From the music teacher (GRANDPARENTS DAY INFO)
The school is already getting ready for the Grandparent's Day performance in music class! Mrs. Turecek (music teacher) previously sent a lyrics sheet home with your child. Please have them look over it when you can. Here's a link to the song recordings, in case they want to hear it and sing along.

Teacher's note:
Good afternoon,
One week done with break, and hardly a month of school left... where has the time gone?! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable spring break. ILEARN is on the near horizon and your students have done a fantastic job as we have practiced with writing and reading skills as we learn "what good writers do" to help their readers and "what good readers do" to better understand what they have read. In social studies, we have been learning about the creation of the American government system. Studying how the nation went about forging through the "Critical Period" in American history as it transitioned from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution with its Bill of Rights and checks and balances. In math, students have been excelling with plotting points on and interpreting coordinate grids.
Post spring break dress code reminders:
Students are allowed to wear skirts and shorts.
Students are not allowed to wear fleeces or sweaters.
Students' shirts must be tucked in all the way around.
Reading incentive: If you had students in Mrs. Hoffman's class previously, this is very similar to what she used. The students get 10 points per every 100 pages they read. They will fill out a reading sheet (mini book report of sorts) to receive the points. At the end of the month, we will do an auction/store where students can use their points to buy trinkets and items as prizes. If you would like to donate items I will gladly accept, but this is never expected! Only one graphic novel per month will count toward this goal. Please continue to encourage your students to read!
I hope you grow in faith, love, and gratitude for all the wonderful blessings the Lord has granted you this week.
Until Monday, with joy,
Miss Spieth
Week at a Glance
Math: Simple geometry with triangles and circles (radius, diameter, geometry tools)
Reading and Language Arts: Persuasive writing, using text evidence
Science: Environments and their factors
Social Studies: Amending the Constitution/US Government
Please support your child:
Research shows that students who read for 20 minutes a day or more are exposed to about 1.8 million words each year! This exposure helps students read and write better, score better on tests, learn new vocabulary, build empathy, and improve mental health... Not to mention, they get second-hand exposure to exciting adventures, historical events, and innumerable other tales!
