Note: This weekly newsletter is being sent to all of our enrolled families, both those at the Broadway K-8 campus and those whose students attend class at Operation Breakthrough, so that all families are aware of upcoming events.

If you have not yet re-enrolled for next year, be sure to do so by this Friday, February 28th—after that, any open seats will be offered to new students through the lottery, and we expect to have waitlists in many grades. We're thrilled that 70% of our students have already committed to return next year!

If you have additional children you’d like to enroll at Citizens for the 2025-2026 school year, submit your SchoolAppKC application by this Saturday, March 1st to give them the best chance of securing a seat through the lottery.

We need to hear from every family regarding your intentions for next year. If your family will not be returning for the 2025-2026 school year, kindly email Katy Lineberry with this update. We are required to account for every student’s plans, and this will also stop further reminder emails and calls.

The February Food Pantry, which was originally scheduled for last week, will now take place this Thursday, February 27th from 3:30-6 pm in the lobby of the Broadway building. The food pantry is open to all families, and no registration is required. Please stop by and grab a few items for your family!

Due to inclement weather school day cancellations on both days of hearing screenings, they've been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 5th and Wednesday, March 26th. Please contact Johanna Chambers with questions or to opt your child out of the screening.

All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to the Middle School Dance this Thursday, February 27th, from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room! Enjoy music, a photo booth, and snacks available for purchase. Tickets will cost $1 each, with food items costing 1 ticket and photo booth visits costing 2 tickets per person. Come hang out with friends and have a great time—we hope to see you there!

On Friday, March 7th, 6th through 8th grade students will participate in an afternoon incentive from 2-3:30 pm. Students will take part in one of two groups based on their academic progress. Those who are passing all of their classes, including both core and elective classes, by Thursday, March 6th, will take part in the Fun Friday celebration rooms, which include activities such as video games, movies, and, weather permitting, outdoor games.

Students who are not passing all of their classes by March 6th will participate in a study hall session. These rooms will provide a quiet environment with relaxing music, allowing students the opportunity to catch up on assignments.

All students, regardless of their location, will receive sweet treats and refreshments. Families who would like to contribute are encouraged to drop off sweet treats on the morning of Friday, March 7th.
