HOLY CHILDHOOD CATHOLIC SCHOOL

On Sunday, January 12th, both the 6th and 8th grade Holy Childhood girls basketball teams defeated St. Teresa School in Belleville to become this year’s Diocesan Champions A Division. Congratulations, Apaches!

The girls now are playing for the SIJHSAA Reginal Championship Monday evening in Red Bud Lutheran. Tipoff is at 6:00 PM.

Also, if you remember before Christmas Break, we held a contest to see which class would have the most students attend our 8th grade night. Apparently, there was a tie between 5th through 8th grade.

Therefore, 5th - 8th grade will get a full dress down day on Friday, January 24!!

Catholic Schools Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the family that we have and will continue to grow. It is a week filled with fun and faith. Please take a look below at the attachment. I will continue to post more details about the week.

We have our mission carnival on Wednesday, January 29. We take candy, put it all in one big bucket, then put it into smaller bags as prizes for every child for the mission carnival. (i.e. Smarties, suckers, gum, etc.) If you wish to donate, we would need it by Friday, January 24 so we have time to bag it.

If you saw the email from earlier this week...this is a simple reminder to get that waiver filled out. If you didn't get the letter, it is below.

ALL students will be attending Sky Zone in Fairview Heights on Monday, January 27 as part of CSW.

In order to go to Sky Zone, please note the following items:

1. ALL students will need to complete an on-line waiver found here. This will need to be completed by Wednesday, January 22.

2. If you have the special orange SkyZone socks, please wear those (that will save us on our final cost). If you don't have a pair, don't worry. We will get them for your child.

3. We will be dividing up the sections of SkyZone per grade level. This will allow the "big kids" to jump with the "big kids" only.

4. Parents are more than welcome to attend and watch. It's a great place! We will be there from 9:00 - 10:30 then return back to school.

Another fun activity planned for Catholic School's Week is McTeacher's Night at the Mascoutah McDonald's. Between 4:00 - 8:00 PM, 20% of all sales will go to HCS. Teachers and staff will be up at McDonald's to meet, greet, and serve you.

Come get those Happy Meals and McFlurrys!!

Fish Fry will begin at 4:30 PM. Games begin at 5:30!

Middle School Youth Group Bosco Nights

Date: January 26

Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Place: 2 Corrington Place

We are in need of a volunteer recess supervisor for the remainder of the year. Recess runs from 11:20 to 11:40 (Elementary) and 12:10 - 12:30 (Middle School). If you are interested, please contact Mr. Keefe at your convenience for details. Thank you!

This month is Mr. Norrenberns bowling unit at Mascoutah Lanes. (A shout-out to Mascoutah Lanes for allowing us to use their facility).

Every year I hold the following contest: IF ANY ONE PICKS UP A LEGITIMATE 7-10 SPLIT, WE WILL HAVE DRESS DOWN DAYS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR!

1. It has to be a legitimate 7-10 split (You can't have the computer set up the pins)

2. No bumpers or ramps.

3. Needs to be videotaped!! I need visual evidence.

Reminder about our E-Learning...

1. STUDENTS WILL NEED TO TAKE THEIR CHROMEBOOKS HOME WITH THEM. (MIDDLE SCHOOL)

2. Every teacher will assign one activity, assignment, or task per subject.

3. Any assignments will be due the 2nd day of returning to school (to answer any questions).

4. Teachers will be available from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to answer any questions via email. (We will not do Zoom). Teachers will periodically check emails in the evening if any other questions arise.

Teachers do have the ability to make small variations. They will communicate those changes to you.

The reason for this e-learning initiative is two-fold: it keeps children academically on-task during snow days and it will allow us to have students out of school for this summer before Memorial Day.
