We have a lot of exciting events coming up at Sandhill—here’s a look ahead:
1st and 2nd Grade Concert – This Thursday!
- We can’t wait to see our talented first and second graders perform at their spring concert this Thursday. It’s always a wonderful way to celebrate their musical growth throughout the year!
Golden Stella Assembly – Also Thursday!
- We’ll also be celebrating positive behavior at our Golden Stella Assembly on Thursday. Students and classes demonstrating respect, responsibility, and safety will be recognized—always a highlight!
School Safety Drill – This Week
- We will be holding an ALICE drill (school safety drill) this week. We’ll prepare students ahead of time to ensure they feel safe, calm, and know what to expect during the drill.
Upcoming Library Dates
-
May 19–23 – RIF Giveaway during library class times! Students will get to pick out a book to take home and keep, courtesy of the Reading Is Fundamental program.
-
May 27 – Tentative Visit from the Public Library to Sandhill! More details to come.

SAFETY DRILLS SPRINGS 2025
During the week of April 28, classroom teachers will be reviewing with our students what to do if there is an emergency. For our littlest learners, we introduce these concepts through the book “I’m not scared. I’m prepared!” The information we provide is brief and offers them reassurance that there are many adults here to protect them. For our 3-5 students, we work through the ALICE protocol in a child-friendly, informative and non-threatening way.
Safety drills help us evaluate our emergency operations plan, improve our response skills and prepare our students and staff in the event of an actual emergency. At the close of the drill, we will send out a message to families informing you that the drill is complete.
If you would like resources to talk with your children at home, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) offers a number of excellent resources for talking with children about school safety. Click here to read more.
School District Updates
Important Health Update:
You may have seen in the news that there has been a rise in measles cases recently. Measles can spread fast at school and make people very sick. Measles can be serious, especially for children under 5, pregnant people, and those with weakened immune systems. The best way to stay protected and keep our school community safe is to get vaccinated. If you have not yet been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine now is a great time to do so! Unvaccinated students and staff may face exclusion from school for up to 21 days following exposure to a measles case.
Antiracism Project: Educating for Equity, April Resources
We are highlighting three events in April:
- Autism Awareness Month
- World Autism Awareness Day
- Arab-American Heritage Month.
The LMS team has compiled the following resources for your review with your children this month. Resources are sorted in two parts: 1. Elementary students and 2. Middle & high school students.
