Montessori Methods
The Phonetic Object Box
This first independent reading activity allows children to experience an “ah-ha" moment when they discover they can understand someone else’s thoughts.
After “writing” lots of words with the movable alphabet, children will be ready to “read” labels and match them to small objects.
Function of Words
The function of word exercises are a series of activities in which the child is given a sensorial experience of the functions of the various parts of speech. They are designed to focus on one part of speech at a time. The function is highlighted by the child’s sensorial experience and is further emphasized by the use of colored symbols. The symbols also strengthen the order of the words to the child.
Math Equation Cards
This set of equation cards for addition are perfect for children to use with the Montessori Golden Beads or Stamp Game. For each of the operations, there are static (no carrying or borrowing) and dynamic equations. This site shows how to do this at home.
