A message from Birke Schemmerling, VPSG Chair . . .
Thank you to all the volunteers in all the ways that you contribute!
Hot Lunch Program: Silvia and Sabrina will be stepping down as the Hot Lunch Program Coordinators at the end of this school year. As such, we are looking for a new Hot Lunch Coordinator or a team to share this role! Silvia and Sabrina are willing to provide support and training over the final few months of this school year to facilitate a seamless handover. If you are interested please contact the school office. Without volunteers, VPSG's Hot Lunch program will not operate!
Current Fundraisers: Upcoming fundraisers for the VPSG and specific grades include:
- Purdy's Chocolates: The VPSG is supporting the grade 7 class in their Purdy's Easter fundraiser. The site for online orders is http://fundraising.purdys.com/734693-126182. Orders are due by April 1 and will be delivered on April 14.
- Spring Craft Fair: The VPSG is supporting the grade 9 class with their Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 12 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
- Garage Sale: Don Coburn and the Knights of Columbus are running a Garage Sale on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 to raise money for new chairs in the gym. Parents are welcome to help set up on the evening of Thursday, April 24.
Hot Lunch: Part 1 (April) of the spring Hot Lunch session is now open for ordering at https://www.munchalunch.com/. Orders for the week of April 7 must be submitted and paid for by noon on Thursday, April 3. Part 2 (May and June) will be open soon! The grade 6 parents are responsible for Wednesdays in the month of April and kindergarten parents are responsible for Wednesdays in May. Thank you for your support!
VPSG Meetings: The next VPSG meeting will be on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 pm. There will be coffee and tea available, and childcare will also be provided in the gym by a few of our dedicated grade 8/9 students. I look forward to seeing everyone!
VPSG Executive: The VPSG Executive includes a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Birke Schemmerling is our Chair, Ashley Medeiros is our Vice-Chair, Gillian McCutcheon is our Secretary, and Joan Iamele is our Treasurer. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out to me (Birke) via text (250-615-1491), Facebook, or email (birkepferd@hotmail.com).
Items of Note!
Yearbook: Yearbook order forms will be coming home in the coming weeks. Watch for yours with your youngest child!
School Council: The next School Council meeting is on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00pm at the school. The meeting begins with an open invitation to all, before we move to the in-camera portion of the meeting. The mandate of School Council is to oversee the operation of Veritas School, including finances and staffing.
Illness: During February and March, our number of sick children was much higher than normal. We do our best to encourage students to sanitize, wash their hands, use tissues, etc. We also are cleaning high touch surfaces more frequently to reduce the spread of germs. Please keep your children home when they are sick!
Absentee Notes: Please contact the school explaining your child's absences with a Seesaw message to Office Staff and your child's teacher. Absentee reports are crucial to our school's funding, as numerous unexplained absences throughout the school year can mean less government funding for your child.

Happy Easter!
The Easter season lasts fifty days from the Sunday of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter Sunday (April 20) to Pentecost Sunday (June 8). The first eight days of the Easter season make up the Octave of Easter and are celebrated as solemnities of the Lord. Scripture (Acts 2:1–31) tells us that the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles on the feast of the Pentecost. The long Easter Season is a way of prolonging the joy of the initial day!
Rather than a School Mass in April, the grade 7 class will lead Veritas School in the Stations of the Cross at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 16. All are welcome to attend!
