Dear Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,

I hope that you are all enjoying your summer break. It has been very quiet around the school, I miss your children! We have been busy preparing for the upcoming school year.

Starting today the school office will be closed until July 8, 2025.

The summer required reading as well as recommended reading are listed in this Trojan Times edition. For those that missed the deadline to order school supplies, I have attached the lists to this edition of the Trojan Times for your review.

I also have the dates for the upcoming Meet the Teacher Event and mandatory back to school curriculum nights for you to put on your calendars.

Finally, if you are traveling we would love to see pictures, especially in your SMG spirit wear. Send your pictures to photos@smgschool.org.

Next year ALL boys (K-8) will wear the red tie. The navy ties are no longer considered Mass uniform.

The red fleece will no longer be considered a part of the school uniform. During the school day students will be allowed to wear their red or navy sweaters. Please be sure that you have the correct circular patch on the sweater.

Fridays students will be allowed to wear SMG sweat shirts and hoodies like they did this year.

For years, educators have known that students lose reading skills during the summer if they do not continue reading. They call this loss the “summer slide”. Research on summer reading finds that students who DO NOT READ in the summer can lose two to three months of reading skills; kids who DO READ tend to gain a month of reading proficiency. We also hope our reading program will promote a love of reading books that are wholesome and enjoyable.

We are looking for coaches for the 2025-2026 Sports Season. We need coaches for our volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, cheer, archery, and track teams. This is a fun way to earn your spirit hours. Contact our Athletic Director, Ms. Bara, if you are interested or for more information.

Please note that there is a mandatory sports meeting on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 5:15. One parent must attend in order for your child to participate in SMG Sports.
