Term 2 Issue 6 8th May 2025
NOONGAR SEASON OF DJERAN (APR - MAY)
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Thank you for the way you have supported our school and your chidren in returning to school this term. The children have returned in a positive manner ready to get back to learning routines and socialising with their friends. It is great to see a number of children already embracing the winter uniform as we transition into the Winter Uniform Policy.
A reminder that as of Monday, all children are expected to be wearing the correct school uniform which a photo has been provided below. Please note hair and jewellery requirements also need to be followed. If you are unsure, there is a link to our school uniform policy provided below.

WA STUDENT ASSISTANCE PAYMENT
Once again, the government is providing cost of living relief with the WA Student Assistance Payment. This is a $150 payment for each child enrolled in primary school and a $250 payment for students enrolled in secondary schooling. The process is accessed via the Service WA app and all that is needed from the school is your child's WA Student Number (WASN). This number can be accessed via the Seqta Engage App, via Reports and is titled WASN. If you have any issues accessing this number, please contact the office 9562 9500.
MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST & ASSEMBLY - TOMORROW!
A reminder to all the mother figures that tomorrow will be our Mother's Day Breakfast and assembly performance from the Year 2 children. The celebrations will kick off at 7:45am with some pastries and muffins for parents and children. This will be followed by the Mother's Day Assembly at 8:45am in the hall. We look forward to celebrating the mother's in our lives on Friday morning!
Thank you to our generous local businesses and parents who have donated items to go towards the P&F Mother's Day Raffle taking place on Friday morning.
KINDY MOTHER"S DAY BOOTCAMP
Thanks to Mrs Kavanagh and Mrs Ridley, our Kindy children enjoyed a bootcamp and morning tea today with their mums! The 80's theme was a hit (even though we realise a lot of our mums weren't born in the 80's!). Great to see our Kindy children bust a move and get involved. Thanks to all the mums for making the time to share this with their kids - they really love having their parents involved. Special thanks to Mrs Taylor, Mrs Rudd, Mrs P and Mrs Bell for their enthusiasm and setup. We also think Mrs Kavanagh missed her calling! Check out a couple of photos below.
NATIONAL WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL - FRIDAY 16th MAY
Well it’s that time of year again when our school seriously starts talking about walking! Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.
You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:
- Walking with them the whole way to school
- If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
- If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic. Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 16 MAY 2025!
Wishing all the mothers a wonderful day this Sunday. Thank you for the incredible love, strength, and dedication you pour into your families. Your support, encouragement, and guidance shape not only your children's lives but also the vibrant atmosphere of our school. Whether it's through volunteering at events, helping with homework, or simply offering a listening ear, your contributions do not go unnoticed.
We hope you enjoy an opportunity to take a moment for yourselves on Sunday. Thank you for being such an essential part of our school community. Enjoy your well-deserved celebrations!
Best wishes

MAY - The Month of the Blessed Virgin Mary
MAY is a special month that the church dedicates to the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God and our mother. In this month especially, we are encouraged to renew and deepen our relationship with our Spiritual Mother Mary. We can do this by reflecting on her life, whilst we pray the rosary, or any other prayer devoted to Mary, which expresses our gratitude for her Motherly care.

First Holy Communion Commitment Masses- Saturday 17th May and Sunday 18th May.
Mayflower Mass 10am - Sunday 25th May

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
This week I would like to recognise a member of our community who does not have children that attend our school, but plays an important role in ensuring the safety of many of our kids. Mr Vittorio Sanfilippo is the crosswalk attendant on the corner of Connolly Drive and McCormack Blvd. Recently, Vittorio was awarded the WA Police COVID-19 Response Service Medal for his work throughout COVID ensuring our crosswalk continued to be patrolled and kept our children safe. Vittorio was the only person in WA awarded this medal as a crosswalk attendant and after many years of service, was well deserved.
Congratulations and thank you to Vittorio for his service to our community. Please feel free to acknowledge this amazing achievement should you access the crosswalk when Vittorio is in attendance.
