Update from the Superintendent
Superintendent Kristine Michael recognized and thanked the Board of Education in honor of Board Appreciation Month. She expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the Northridge Local School District, emphasizing the vital role they play in supporting students, staff, and the community.
Treasurer Update
Treasurer Britt Lewis presented an update on the district’s capital plan, Permanent Improvement Funds and the Classroom Facilities Maintenance Fund, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safe and functional facilities. With nearly $1.5 million in cash balances across three funds, the capital plan outlines active projects, including middle school plumbing, safety upgrades, and maintenance initiatives, with over $218,000 currently committed. Priorities for 2025 include rekeying school doors, updating the front sign, and resealing asphalt, while longer-term plans address significant repairs and upgrades through 2027, such as concrete work, boiler replacements, and school van upgrades.
Lewis also highlighted the Permanent Improvement Fund cash flow timeline, which reflects strategic planning through 2038. With a balance of $1.18 million as of December 31, 2024, the fund supports key projects while benefiting from steady income from a permanent improvement tax. This approach ensures sustainable funding for future needs, including debt payments and major facility upgrades, keeping the district’s infrastructure aligned with its long-term goals.
