A Note from Mrs. Kopperud and Ms. Abreo
Dear Adventure Families,
The next few weeks will be busy, there's some fun special events on the calendar! Tuesday is crazy hair/hat day, Thursday is school picture day, and Friday is our fundraising Color Fun Run!
At the current moment, our total funds raised are $3,058 meaning we are 31% of the way to our goal! Remember, that all money raised goes to pay for students' field trips, special guest speakers and extended learning opportunities, and student motivation (incentives, rewards, etc.). Many grades have already taken a field trip this year and we hope to be able to replenish the budget to afford more. Field trip costs range from $300 to $6,000 so we are so fortunate to be able to provide these memorable experiences to each student this year; every donation helps. We're also starting to draw names each day to award students who get a donation, no matter how big or small. Thank you for your support!
Lastly, look for communication from your child's teacher soon to schedule a parent/teacher conference. Staff will work the evenings of October 9 and 10 to meet with every child's family.
Saludos,
Sarah Kopperud

Our annual school fundraiser, the Color Fun Run, is in one week--next Friday, October 4! All students, PK-6, will wear their grade's color and show their school spirit by running laps! Our goal is to raise $10,000; all funds raised go to support extended learning opportunities (field trips, guest speakers) and student celebrations. Each student's individual fundraising goal is $25.
- You can donate to your student's page here.

Home-School Connections and Attendance
Strong daily attendance is a big emphasis at Adventure, and throughout the state of Colorado, since the pandemic. There is simply no replacement for missing instruction from the teacher. The reason why chronic absenteeism is a crisis right now is because research tells us that students who missing even 5-9% of days causes students to fall behind. Additionally, the impact of absences on achievement carries forward year after year. Students who are below grade level leaving 3rd grade have a VERY difficult time ever catching up and are at higher risk for failing out of high school. Our teachers work very hard to do everything within our control to assure students learn. And, if kids are missing 10, 20, 30+ school days, we simply cannot overcome that barrier. The kids need the support from their families to help them get to school every day, on time and until the dismissal bell rings. If your family is struggling with your child's attendance, please reach out so we can help!
Additionally, starting on Monday, Oct. 7, Mapleton will begin sending text message notifications directly to parents and guardians regarding their child’s attendance. This new initiative is aimed at improving student attendance by providing families with transparent, real-time attendance information so we can work together to address any concerns and connect families with necessary resources. Additionally, every Saturday, parents and guardians will also receive a detailed email summarizing their child's attendance for the week. As a reminder, please use our school attendance line to notify us of any absences, 303.853.1410.
