North Woodworking
Some of North High’s woodworking students went on special field trip last week to Rockler Woodworking and Hardware. The students have been working in partnership with Rockler over the past month to build wood bluetooth speakers.
Rockler’s aim for this project was to engage with students who connect through working with their hands and introduce them to a new lifelong hobby and possible career paths in the skilled trades.
The students also had the opportunity to custom engrave the North High School logo on their speakers and test out their speakers by playing the school fight song.
North Show Choir Extravaganza
Last weekend, North Show Choir drew large crowds to their Extravaganza performance, highlighting work created by students.
Points of Pride
North Students at Congressional Art Competition
In the heart of St. Paul, creativity blossomed as Betty McCollum, our representative, once again hosted the annual 4th District Congressional Art Show. This vibrant event showcased the talent of students from St. Paul schools, offering a captivating glimpse into the artistic talents of our local youth.
Held in conjunction with the St. Paul Art Crawl, a beloved tradition in our community, this year's Congressional Art Show drew an impressive crowd of over 6,000 visitors. 37 North students participated in the competition.
Stay tuned for more updates and exciting events celebrating the arts in our district!
Volunteers Needed
Tartan Financial Game Day
A few more volunteers are needed for our 2nd annual Financial Game Day at Tartan High School! On Tuesday, May 7 all students in 11th grade are invited to participate in a fun, engaging financial game day where, using an online app, students learn what it's like to manage finances within the structure of a paid job and family. Students are SHOCKED at how much things cost, which makes it a really fun day for the volunteers.
Check out last year's story in THIS NEWSLETTER to learn more.

Community Resources
Measles and the MMR vaccine
Minnesota has identified cases of measles in children who recently returned to the U.S. after traveling internationally. The decline in measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine coverage, coupled with the increase in measles disease nationally and internationally, puts Minnesota at risk of additional measles cases and a measles outbreak.
MDH has information about measles and the MMR vaccine: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/measles/measlesfacts.html
If your child has any symptoms, please contact your medical provider and school nurse.
Washington County Vaccination Clinics
Washington County is offering monthly vaccination clinics. Appointments can be scheduled on the Washington County website.
