Cedar Hill High School 2024-25
July 24th, 2024

From the Desk of Principal Joffre
Dear Longhorn Family,
We’re heading into an important week here at Cedar Hill High School! Our scholars will be taking their STAAR End-of-Course exams in Biology, U.S. History, and Algebra I. We know they’ve been working hard all year, and we’re confident they’re ready to show what they’ve learned. Let’s continue to support and encourage them. Each and every word of motivation makes a difference!
I also want to give a huge shoutout to our Theatre Department for their amazing production of Grease: The Musical! From the talented cast and crew to the directors and support staff, the show was a vibrant display of our students’ creativity and dedication. Bravo to everyone involved!
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I encourage each of you to finish strong. Whether you're taking exams, performing on stage, or wrapping up projects, your effort and perseverance matter. Let’s keep showing up, doing our best, and making every moment count.
Proud to be your principal,
Mr. Joffre
HORNS SHOW UP!!!
Daily student attendance is vital—it not only fuels academic success but also directly impacts school funding. Every day a student is present strengthens their learning journey and ensures our schools have the necessary resources to provide quality education. When students show up, they grow, and our schools thrive!

Sleep and Mental Health
Sleep is very important, especially for children and teens, who need at least 8 hours of sleep per night and 9 to 12 hours for children between ages 6 and 12. Poor sleep habits can cause attention difficulties in class, memory issues, trouble paying attention and behavior issues at home and in the classroom. Proper sleep not only reduces these issues but allows teens to have better critical thinking and reduces chronic mental health issues.
While many of these routines start at home, discussing and encouraging better sleep habits with students can provide better outcomes in terms of academic performance and behavior.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PARENTS
- Free & Reduced-Price Meal Applications: It’s never too late to submit your application for the 2024-2025 school year. Completing the application doesn’t just provide access to free and reduced meals—it may unlock additional benefits for your family. Make sure to apply for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and check for any other necessary applications to maximize your family’s benefits.
