Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians
Athletics Carnival Success ...the sunshine after the rain!
The day started with the 7am setup group looking and thinking do we …don’t we! But…a heartfelt thank you to all our staff, students, parents and grandparents for making our first Athletics Carnival at Mater Dei College such a wonderful event. Despite a rainy and windy start, the sun came out by 9:45 am, and the day turned out to be truly delightful. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility with the event schedule to accommodate the weather conditions. Thank you to Mr Rebeiro and his team’s quick thinking, the day was a resounding success. The students described it as the best day of their lives and loved being at the "big school".
Mr Rebeiro thank you for your preparation, time and work behind-the-scenes as well as before school training practice, leading up to the carnival. Your belief in the weather patterns and your effort in managing the new venue contributed greatly to the success of our first carnival. The resilience and collaboration demonstrated by everyone was truly incredible. Congratulations to all staff for your hard work and dedication throughout the day.
A big thanks to everyone who set up, led students, and marshalled the event. Special appreciation to Morrie (Mrs Dimond's Dad), Mr Glenn, and Mr Bright for cooking, managing the sausage sizzle and selling a record 260 sausages. Your organisation was crucial and much appreciated.
Mrs Curtis, your MC skills kept us all amused, informed and on track throughout the day. Mrs Irwin, thank you for capturing all the podium photos. Mrs Didlock and Mrs Dimond, your efforts in recording events and timings, providing first aid, and distributing ribbons were invaluable.
A special thank you to Mr D’Costa for generously volunteering his time and equipment for the day. Your contribution provided the students with a great motivational boost through the music and enhanced the event with a superb sound system for announcements. Your support was greatly appreciated and played a key role in the success of the carnival. Thank you!
To our staff, parents, and students who cheered on our competitors at the start and finish lines, your support was truly inspiring and made the event even more memorable to witness.
The field events will take place next week, the points for Faction Winner and Individual Champions will be finalised and announced at the assembly on Thursday, 19 September at 8:45am.
Have a wonderful afternoon!
In gratitude
Emma Fernandez
Acting Principal
A big thank you to Mr Nicoletti for crafting yet another stunning mosaic masterpiece, which now completes our school logo and motto. Your artistic talent and dedication have significantly enhanced our school’s entrance and serve as a beautiful reminder of what we stand for. We truly appreciate your exceptional contribution!
A big thank you to our P&F for running a fantastic Cake Stall! It was a busy day filled with many delicious treats. We greatly appreciate the hard work of our P&F Executives and parent volunteers who baked, donated their time, and helped manage the stall. We are thrilled to report that this year’s Cake Stall & Sausage Sizzle raised $1,300. Thank you all for your dedication and support!.
Parking and Kiss and Drive Reminders
Parking Complaints from Residents
Today, we received complaints from residents on Ranworth Road regarding blocked access between 2:15pm and 3:15pm during the school week, as well as issues with vehicles blocking the adjacent corner onto Anfield Parade. Additionally, there have been concerns about cars parking across the pedestrian pathway directly across from the school.
We understand that there is significant school parking demand during these times for both schools in the area however, we ask that you be mindful of where you park and ensure that you are not blocking driveways or street access. The resident has reported these issues to the Shire, and they will be conducting a traffic and parking review in the area over the next week or so. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain smooth traffic flow and accessibility for all.
Kiss and Drive
We kindly ask that when using the Kiss and Drive service, you remain in your car and avoid getting out to assist with seat belts or open the boot for bags. Doing so can disrupt the smooth flow of the Kiss and Drive. If you need to adjust seat belts or access the boot, please use the designated parking area. Your cooperation helps us keep the Kiss and Drive service efficient and safe for everyone.
For safety reasons, we ask that parents use the designated crosswalk when walking across the Kiss and Drive area in the morning and afternoon. This will help ensure a safer environment for everyone as you access the car park and walk into the school. Thank you for your cooperation.
