FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Greetings CMIT-South Families,
🎉 Happy 2nd Qtr! 🎉
Welcome to the start of a brand-new quarter, CMIT-South families! We’re excited to kick off Quarter 2 with a strong focus on building consistent routines and keeping our momentum going. This is a great time to start fresh and set new goals!
As we dive into the quarter, let’s continue the good habit of regularly checking Synergy for grades. Staying up-to-date allows both parents and scholars to follow progress and address any questions quickly. If you have questions about any grades or assignments, don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers – they’re here to help!
For the past 2 weeks, students have also been engaged in Benchmark Assessments across Math, RELA, Science, and Social Studies to measure growth and identify focus areas. Parents and scholars can expect to receive those results within the coming week.
Last week, high school students had a fantastic Spirit Week, with students and staff dressing in exciting costumes for each themed day as they showed their school spirit. Middle School scholars enjoyed a truly exciting Fall Dance in recognition of demonstrating Respect for their school community! Special thanks to our PTO for the beautiful decorations and to all the parents and staff who volunteered to chaperone, making it a memorable evening for our scholars. Your support and enthusiasm mean so much!
Last night, our high school celebrated a memorable milestone as the Class of 2025 was officially inducted during the Senior Pinning Ceremony. Proud seniors, dressed in their best, were pinned by their parents or special guests, symbolizing their transition into the final chapter of their high school journey. This tradition highlights the partnership between students, families, and our school community, all joining together to honor the achievements and future aspirations of our seniors. The evening was filled with pride, joy, and anticipation as the Class of 2025 took this significant step toward graduation. Congratulations to our seniors!
Here’s to an amazing Quarter 2 filled with learning, growth, and school spirit! Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
STEM/MAKER'S FAIRE
Greetings Parents, Guardians, & Scholars,
I’m so excited to announce the start of our 2025 STEM/Maker's Faire process. Scholars will need to decide which process they want to follow. The result of these processes look different. I advise you to work together to choose the best fit for your interests and budget. Please note that although your child's teacher will be doing check-ins, the majority of the work is expected to be done at home.
If your scholar(s) follow the STEM Process, they will use the scientific method to guide them through an experiment. Their experiment will have them Identify a question to ask, do background research, construct a hypothesis, test the hypothesis by experiment, analyze the data, conclude, and report the results.
The Maker’s Faire process guides scholars through the engineering design process (or engineering method). This process offers similar steps for students working on engineering projects and inventions. Engineering design projects don't have a hypothesis to test. Instead, they have a challenge or problem that needs to be solved and, often, a set of design constraints that need to be considered when brainstorming and prototyping solutions. At the end of this process, your scholar would’ve built a working prototype of their idea.
With everything going on in the world, I want all our scholars to be inspired to investigate their wonders, build new ideas, and experiment with their curiosity. Grades 6-12th will be required to participate, however, we will offer the opportunity for scholars to work with a partner within the same grade level this year (students should speak with their science teacher for more details). Review the timeline and mark your calendars. To ensure you receive feedback promptly, late work will not be accepted; please strive to meet all submission deadlines. Your scholar's science teacher will review all requirements and rubrics and post additional information on their canvas pages.
All dates may be subject to change; the most up-to-date changes will be posted on the newsletter and Canvas. I look forward to seeing everyone's hard work at the 2025 STEM/Maker's Faire!
Warm Regards,
Miss Hamilton
