The Weekly Update #13
November 3rd, 2024
From the Principal
Cougar Families,
We are quickly approaching the end of the 1st half of the new 9 week grading period. Grades will be captured this Friday, November 8, for progress reports that will go home next week. Please continue to check your student's grade through the parent portal in order to stay up-to-date. If you are not able to check their grades, please contact our counseling department in order to gain access.
Parents, we are continuing to have issues with bus behaviors. Please make sure that your student understands the importance of appropriate behaviors on the bus. This ensures that all students make it to and from school in a safe manner. We still have some drivers who are running two routes for us on a daily basis, and it makes it difficult for them to do their jobs when students are not behaving.
This week, we will have our induction ceremony for students who will be joining the National Junior Honor Society. The ceremony will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 5:30 PM. If your child is participating, please make sure that they arrive at the school no later than 5:15 PM. We will begin on time in the gym so that we can conclude on time.
Our school book fair also begins this week! We are excited to announce that we will have a family night in order for our parents to be able to come and shop with their students. This will also be on Wednesday, November 6. We will begin at 5:00 PM in the library! We also have a preview page on our library site. The preview has EWallet, which allows you to shop without cash! The book fair will conclude on Monday, November11.
Again, i want to reiterate the dress code policy as we are inching closer to "cooler" weather. Students are allowed to wear whatever outer wear deemed necessary while they are at the bus stops. However, once they enter the building, only Southeast Middle outer wear is acceptable per the dress code policy. Not only this, but blankets are not allowed on the bus or in the classrooms. So, please ensure that your student leaves his/her blanket at home.
Also, please note that students are considered tardy after 7:10 AM. If students are on a late bus, it will be documented in JCAMPUS by the front office. After 7:30 AM, students being dropped off by a parent MUST BE SIGNED IN BY AN ADULT! If the adult does not come in and sign the student in, the student will be placed in TOR until a parent/guardian can do so. This is for the safety and security of not just your child, but for the school.
Lastly, parents, please understand that we can not allow someone who is not on your child's demographic or emergency card to check him/her out. Our office staff checks this to ensure that your child is safe AT ALL TIMES. Please know that this is not to make life difficult, but to ensure the safety of our students.
Thank you!

Celebrations
District Runner-Ups
Our team won 2nd place in the Middle School Football Championships. Our team entered the contest undefeated, but fell to CSAL in the championship game that was held on Tuesday, October 29 at Broadmoor High.
Bookmark Winners and Honorable Mentions
The library held its Spooktacular Bookmark Contest. Students had to read and AR book, pass it with 100%, and then register for the contest. We are so proud of all of our artists!
Pizza and Pumpkins
Ms. Narcisse held a celebration for select students in her classroom. Students were able to paint pumpkins and eat some pizza in the process! This was an excellent PBIS activity for her students!
