Supporting Children with Hair Loss Hair
We were thrilled that, Dr. Jan Solkov, recently made a heartfelt donation, supporting the Children With Hair Loss organization. This incredible organization has a mission to "cover young heads to heal young hearts," providing wigs at no cost to children facing hair loss due to medical conditions.
"I’ve had the privilege of donating my hair through the MBIT Cosmetology program three times, where a student stylist takes on the important role of cutting it for me. I will be donating those 8 inches again to Children With Hair Loss which makes wigs for young children. It’s an incredible experience to be part of something so personal and meaningful, knowing that my donation will help a child with hair loss feel more confident.
As a cancer survivor who lost my hair as a result of the chemo treatment, I can appreciate what it means to have no hair and want a wig. For a young child, it probably means even more for them to "fit in" in their school setting.
I became involved with MBIT in 2010 as the Chair of the Executive Council when I was a Board member in the New Hope Solebury School District. I have continued this involvement as the Chair of their Local Advisory Council, being inducted into the MBIT National Technical Honor Society, and helping to establish the new MBIT Education Foundation. As MBIT's "Chief Cheerleader," I love the services provided by their Cosmetology program; it helps the students gain experience, and they always do a great job.
My whole professional life has been in education, working with students of all ages, helping to shape their futures. Working with the MBIT students makes it even more special, as it brings us together in a shared purpose of making a difference." ~Dr. Jan Solkov

Construction Carpentry students had an exciting visitor! Steve A. Turbyfill from Freedom General Contracting stopped by to share his insights into the construction trade, giving students a glimpse into what a day in the life of a contractor looks like and what employers seek in a potential employee. Our students asked a variety of questions, and Steve didn’t disappoint, offering valuable answers and advice. As a dedicated member of our Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC), Steve has also been instrumental in helping our students acquire new tools this year.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Welding Instructor, James Haimovitz, for taking his expertise and dedication to new heights! Over the summer, James traveled to Houston, TX, where he completed the American Welding Society’s (AWS) Certified Welding Educator (CWE) training at Bechtel—a prestigious achievement that underscores his commitment to both educational excellence and the highest industry standards. This rigorous certification not only elevates James’s own skills but also enhances the quality of instruction he provides to our students, ensuring they gain knowledge from a true industry professional. For Parents
SafeArrival
Dear Parents/Guardians,
At Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, one of our greatest priorities is ensuring that all our students arrive safely at school each day.
To enhance our existing absence-checking procedure, we are introducing a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival. This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences.
With SafeArrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3 convenient methods:
1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
2. Use the SafeArrival website, go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
3. Call the toll-free number 1-888-255-8111 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.
In addition, we will use the SchoolMessenger Communicate automated notification system to contact parents whose child is absent when the absence was not reported in advance. The automated notification system will attempt to contact parents at multiple contact points until a reason is submitted for the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, office staff will follow up.
If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.
Starting November 11, 2024, please report absences in advance using SafeArrival instead of sending notes or calling/emailing the school.
Starting November 11, 2024, staff will be using the SafeArrival notifications to let you know if your student is absent (when you haven’t reported the absence in advance).
If you have children attending other schools, please continue to report absences using the existing procedures for those schools.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we implement this new system.
