Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that you managed to stay safe in the snowy weather we received yesterday. Here are some photos of our youngest pupils enjoying the snow while it lasted!
As we approach the end of this first Spring term, there are many things that we have been doing in school over the past two weeks. Please take a moment to read about some of our events.
Last Week
Year 6 Sats Parents Evening
GALS (Girls Active Leadership Team)
On Monday, our PE Coordinator Mrs Wood, hosted our annual GALS event in which all the GALS across the different PAT Junior & Infant schools came together to discuss how they can break down gender stereotypes in sport. This is a fantastic initiative and one that the girls are very passionate about.
School Nursing Team – Year 4 Healthy Lifestyle
On Monday, we had the School Nursing Team visiting our Year 4 class where they learnt the importance of having a healthy lifestyle in an interactive workshop. They learned the importance of exercise, diet and sleep.
Dan Tastic Workshop – EYFS & KS1
On Tuesday, the fantastic Dan Tastic educational workshop came to visit EYFS and KS1. EYFS became time travelers for the day and learned all about Castles and Knights, and KS1 learned some new circus skills. The pupils were able to add a stamp to their 50 life experiences passports.
Road Safety Officer Patrol
Last Wednesday, our Junior Leadership Team went on patrol with two Road Safety Officer’s from Wakefield Council. As you know, school is working hard to ensure that parking both at drop off time and after school time is safe for our children and their families and respectful to community residents. School is working with the local authority and police to implement greater safety measures for all.
Year 1 and 2 Woodland Adventure - Financial Workshop
On Thursday & Friday a representative from HSBC bank delivered a financial awareness session to our Year 1 and 2. In the session, they met Hoot the Owl to explore the value of money, Dotty the Ladybird to practice counting and learn money Maths and Savvy the Squirrel to talk about why we save money.
This Week
EYFS Trip to Cannon Hall Farm
This term, EYFS have been learning about farming and farm animals. On Monday, to support the children with their learning, the children visited Cannon Hall Farm where they enjoyed learning about life on the farm, met a range of different animals and even had a tractor ride! What a wonderful experience!
KS2 Safer Internet Assembly
This week, we have been talking about the importance of keeping ourselves safe on the internet. Tuesday was Safer Internet Day and to support us with our learning, a representative from HSBC delivered an assembly on being safe on the internet to KS2 children.
Lunar New Year
This week, we have been learning about the Lunar New Year in school and the children have been carrying out various activities in relation to this. On Thursday, the children had an Asian inspired lunch option available to them. On Friday, the children were able to wear red and showcase their learning to the rest of the school in an assembly. Our youngest children also had experience making Spring Rolls with Classroom Kitchen.
Young Voices concert
On Friday afternoon, our Young Voices choir travelled to Sheffield Arena to be part of the annual Young Voices Choir. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for our children as they get to sing in the Arena alongside many other schools, watch fantastic musicians and dancers perform and have a wonderful time. Watch out for them on the local news this evening
