Staff Spotlight
John Santella
1. What classes do you teach and/or programs and activities do you work with at Westview?
I teach 9th grade Global Studies, 10th grade American Studies, and US History Topics (11th and 12th graders).
Along with Jessica Loomis, I supervise Westview's YES Club (Youth Ending Slavery -- an anti-human trafficking club) and am assisting Derek Oldham with the Model UN program.
2. How long have you been at WHS?
This is my first year at Westview (and it rocks!) I love it here!
3. What do you enjoy most about the Westview community?
First and foremost, I love the Westview Student Community. This is a wonderfully diverse community, and there is no shortage of kids who are motivated, engaged, and perhaps most importantly, just kind, compassionate and wonderful human beings. When I see the youth we interact with on a daily basis here, I find myself incredibly hopeful and optimistic about our nation and our world's future. Additionally, one couldn't ask for a more friendly and supportive staff. People here seem to genuinely care about each other, welcome collaboration, and will volunteer support. That is not something that I take for granted. I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such a dedicated and professional group of colleagues.
4. If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it - metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions - what would it say and why?
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for".
- Source Unknown (but I like it!)

Blood Drive January 31st
Westview is having a blood drive on January 31st! Although it is not open to parents, students are encouraged to participate if they can. If your child is 16 and would like to donate, please remind them to get a parental consent form at the front of the cafeteria during lunch. And yes, if they donated in Westview’s fall blood drive, they can donate again!

Thank you, Anonymous Donor!
Payroll Department
The Payroll Department would like to notify all employees of the following:
Electronic W-2s will be available through Employee Online Services by Monday, January 28, 2019. Please note that your W-2 will not be delivered to you by email if you have opted into electronic delivery; you must log in to access it.
If you have chosen paper delivery, you will receive your W-2 either at your address of record or at your school/department location (whichever you have dictated). Paper forms will be mailed on Monday, January 28, 2019. Secretaries will receive employees’ W-2 forms in standard green bags on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. These will be distributed to employees by Thursday, January 31, 2019, or put into the mail at the end of the day for any staff who have not claimed them.
All employees will have electronic access to their W-2s. As a means of protecting your personal information and assisting the District with expense reduction, please consider “opting-in” to electronic access only (which means you will not receive a paper form) here:https://eos.beaverton.k12.or.us/ifas7/emponline/Default.aspx
