How to I receive Adaptive Sports services?
Maryland Veteran's interested in Adaptive Sports services must be enrolled in the Maryland VA Healthcare system. If you are enrolled already, request an Adaptive Sports and Wellness Consult from your provider. It's that simple!

CYCLE VA MARYLAND
The Maryland VA is dedicated to get Veteran's moving and enjoying the outdoors. Through our Cycle VA Maryland Program, Veteran's learn about the sport of cycling, adaptions to make cycling safer and more comfortable, and build a cycling community with their fellow veterans. Aquatics Programs
The Maryland VA provides 3 multi-level group aquatics classes designed to challenge each individual at their own fitness level.
Wave Workout is focused on higher intensity athletic training and sports conditioning drills to increase strength and endurance.
Aqua ROM class is specially designed to enhance movement, Range Of Motion, balance and flexibility.
Aqua Meditation is a form of water meditation with the utilization of floating hammocks within a heated pool. It is a mindfulness practice that uses water as an environment or element for spiritual activity. Water meditation techniques exist to enrich feelings of being grounded, tranquil and stable.
Equine Assisted Therapy
With the help of Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding Center, Maryland Therapeutic Riding, and Wellspring of Life Farm, we are able to provide Equine Therapy Services to our Maryland Veterans. Through a variety of unmounted, mounted, and other horse-related activities veterans are able to increase their strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, confidence, trust and communication skills. Veterans may be at any stage in their healing process.
Adaptive Sports and Wellness Clinics
We offer a wide range of sports, outdoor adventures, exercise, and wellness clinics to those enrolled in Adaptive Sports. These include but are not limited to yoga, tai chi, kayaking, fitness gym, fishing, hunting, hiking, rock climbing, camping, snow sports, scuba, and more!!!
National Adaptive Sports Competitions- Maryland Teams
Maryland Warriors-National Veteran's Golden Age Games Team
The Maryland Warriors 2025 team is full but we are accepting Veteran's for our 2026 Team
National Veterans Golden Age Games serves Veterans ages 55 years and older. Through its “Fitness for Life” motto, the Golden Age Games offers sports competitions and health education sessions to demonstrate the value that sports, wellness, and fitness provide to assist Veterans with living an active and healthy lifestyle. The National Veterans Golden Age Games is a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.

Each year the location changes. The 2025 Games is Memphis, Tennessee!

May 30th- June 6th, 2025
- What about travel costs?
Maryland can provide some assistance for eligible Veterans who meet the required training and as funding is available.

- What is that National Veteran's Wheelchair Games?
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is the world’s largest annual wheelchair sports and rehabilitation event solely for military veterans. The event demonstrates the unstoppable character of veterans and seeks to foster wider respect and opportunities for all people with disabilities.
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is open to all U.S. veterans with spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple sclerosis, or other central neurological conditions who require a wheelchair for athletic competition.

National Adaptive Sports Clinics
National Summer Sports Clinic
Registration Closes March 1, 2025
2025 Summer Clinic Dates: Aug. 23 -30, 2025
Eligibility
The National Summer Sports Clinic program is designed for Veterans whose current rehabilitation goals would benefit from the value of adaptive summer sports. Prior NVSSC events have served Veterans living with spinal cord injuries, amputations, visual impairments, neurological conditions, PTSD, burns, and TBI/Poly Trauma. NVSSC is open to all Veterans enrolled in VA health care. All applications are subject to review by the NVSSC Medical Director and NVSSC Director.
*Participation in the 2022 NVSSC does NOT guarantee eligibility for future NVSSC in-person events.

National Winter Sports Clinic

2025 Winter Sports Clinic Dates: March 30th-April 6th, 2025
The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic provides disabled Veterans with training and rehabilitation every year. Veterans with TBIs, spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, amputations and other severe disabilities are challenged to overcome perceived limitations through adaptive skiing, sled hockey, scuba diving, rock wall climbing, education and other activities.
All accepted Veterans are required to ski.
There is a sit-down skiing weight limit of 220 pounds and a stand-up skiing limit of 300 pounds.
Qualifying disabilities include:
Spinal Cord Injuries
Multiple Sclerosis
Traumatic Brain Injury
CVA with Residual
Orthopedic Amputations
Visual Impairments
Common disabilities that do not qualify include:
Low Back Pain
Degenerative Joint Disease
Osteoarthritis
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Chronic Pain
All disabilities are subject to review by the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic medical director and program director.

National Golf Clinic
Registration Opens January 13th till April 4th, 2025
2025 Golf Clinic Dates: Sept. 7th-12th, 2025
The National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic is to provide an adaptive golf and rehabilitation program for Veterans with a qualifying disability. Provision of this program serves to engage and invigorate Veterans to directly improve their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
The National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic (NDVGC) is a week-long adaptive golf program that is presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and DAV (Disabled American Veterans). This annual event promotes rehabilitation by instructing Veterans with specific life-changing disabilities in adaptive golf. In addition to adaptive golf Veterans will be introduced to other adaptive recreational sports.
Participation is open to U.S. military Veterans with visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, spinal cord injuries, and other disabilities.
