In order to ensure the safety of our staff and students while at school, all visitors are required to provide their drivers license or state ID in order to be allowed in the building. Your ID will be scanned into our "Safe Visitor" software and you will then be provided with a visitor's badge. Please remember to have your ID with you when visiting the school for lunch, a classroom visit, or to chaperone.

Parent teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon/evening from 4:30 -7:00 pm on Wednesday the 24th and 1:00-6:00 pm on Thursday the 25th. Conferences will be 15 minutes in length and teachers will discuss your child's strengths, areas to improve upon, and progress from this first quarter of school.

Information regarding scheduling of conferences came home with your child last Friday. Please complete the form and return to school no later than this Thursday, October 4 so that we may begin finalizing conferences times.

Please note that we will be working to coordinate conferences should you have multiple students to alleviate making multiple trips to the school.

Hooray, hooray... it's almost playground day!

Installation of our new playground equipment will begin in the coming days. We are anticipating everything being completed by the end of the month (and crossing our fingers for even sooner!).

Just a friendly reminder that any and all medication, including over the counter, must be given to the nurse with a doctor's order. This includes Tylenol, cough drops, inhaler, Tums, creams/ointments etc. Should you have any questions, please feel free to give Mrs. Fisher a call.

To recognize the National School Lunch Program and the 30 million children it serves every day, Valparaiso Community Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 15-19, 2018. The theme, “Lots 2 Love,” encourages students and school nutrition professionals across the country to share what they love most about school lunch programs.

National School Lunch Week will emphasize the nearly one million healthy meals that are served each year at Valpo Schools. Elementary students will compete to name the cafeteria mascots, The Power Up Pals and all students will celebrate Indiana Food Day learning about the radish and sampling unusual varieties of this root vegetable like Purple Ninja, Daikon and Watermelon.

“School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and less fat and sodium,” said Kathleen Kane, Director of School Nutrition. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents, teachers and students about all the benefits of our program to the classroom and to families. We are fortunate to have several newly renovated facilities with state of the art equipment which allow us to expand our culinary skills and offer a wider variety of fresh produce.” Have you tried school lunch lately?
