PICTURES AND NEWS
VMEA 4th/5th GRADE CHOIR FESTIVAL - CVU HIGH SCHOOL - HINESBURG
Our students represented SACS well and the group of around 230 students performed beautifully the eight songs they practiced throughout Friday, March 22nd. Their instructors and chaperones, Ms. Katelynn Maher and Ms. Sarah Brooks were proud.
You can view a video of their performance. The content of interest starts at 44:00 minutes. Introductions were made and the singing starts at 46:30.
Link to 134 Pictures taken by Ms. Brooks.
UNEXPECTED EXTRA DAY OF SLEDDING
While the bright sunshine, lack of wind and relatively warm temperatures had the majority of the Voyagers clambering over the playground equipment or scraping off the four square area for typical springtime activities, some chose to go sledding instead. Ms. Bashaw's crew had no shortage of tubes to choose from as they banded together and blazed down the sledding hill.
RENAISSANCE 7TH GRADE OMINIKIN BALL P.E.
The sun was shining brightly into the large gym when these 7th graders had their P.E. class with Ms. Jarvis and Mr. Fleming. Teams of yellow, red, and green vied with each other to call out other groups and then try to send the ball where a specified team could not reach the ball in time to keep it from hitting the ground. 3-25-2024.

ROBOT ADVENTURES - HAPPENING THROUGH MARCH
As seen in the below video, robots at City school are suffering from winter boredom. They had so much fun during the month of code in December but now are tucked away in their boxes awaiting adventure. What does this have to do with you? Your class can help give the robots a vacation. Simply let the STEAM team know which robot you want and when! We will deliver the robots to you-- ready to go!

AND as an incentive....the class that gives the robot the best vacation will win a robot for their classroom! (contest goes through the end of March)
Not sure which robot to choose? Our makerspace website lists all the robots we have (as well as the quantity) and has a video showing how they work with each one, as well as details on ease of use OR just reach out and we can help match your class with an appropriate robot. HARRIET TUBMAN
Born a slave in Maryland, Harriet Tubman knew first-hand what it meant to be someone's property; she was whipped by owners and almost killed by an overseer. It was from other field hands that she first heard about the Underground Railroad which she travelled by herself north to Philadelphia. Throughout her long life (she died at the age of ninety-two) and long after the Civil War brought an end to slavery, this amazing woman was proof of what just one person can do.
GIRLS WHO ROCKED THE WORLD
“Young women looking for inspiration will surely find it” (Booklist) in these profiles of forty-six movers and shakers who made their mark before they turned twenty.
This fun and inspiring collection of influential stories provides forty-six illustrated examples of strong, independent female role models, all of whom first impacted the world as teenagers or younger. Originally published in two volumes over a decade ago, this fully updated and expanded edition of Girls Who Rocked the World spans a variety of achievements, interests, and backgrounds, from Harriet Tubman and Coco Chanel to S.E. Hinton and Maya Lin—each with her own incredible story of how she created life-changing opportunities for herself and the world. Personal aspirations from today’s young women are interspersed throughout the book, which also includes profiles of teenagers who are rocking the world right now—girls like Winter Vinecki, the creator of the nonprofit organization Team Winter, and Jazmin Whitley, the youngest designer to show at L.A. Fashion Week.
It’s never too soon to start making a difference, and these exhilarating examples of girl power in action make for ideal motivation.
GUTSY GIRLS: YOUNG WOMEN WHO DARE
Their true stories will thrill and inspire you--meet a mountain climber, a skydiver, a fossil hunter, a college football player, a surfer, a world traveler, a circus performer, and an open-water marathon swimmer. As you read about their accomplishments, you'll get an up-close look at the courage, hard work and persistence it takes to reach these kinds of goals.
