Boxes Needed
This summer, we will have new air conditioners and new windows installed. The teachers will need to pack up items in their classrooms so they do not get dusty. If you have any boxes, we would appreciate them! We would like them broken down flat so we can easily store them until May. You can drop those off during carline, before or after school, any day.

The forms for each of these sports can be picked up at the school office by parents/students or Coach Edwards will have them. Students must have the form filled out for each sport to participate.
Speech
Questions and Answers from Speech Therapy by Diana J. Goodwin, CCC-SLP
What is the difference between a speech/language pathologist (SLP) and a speech/language therapist? There is no difference in the training and qualifications between a speech/language pathologist and a speech/language therapist. In a medical setting, such as a hospital or outpatient clinic, this professional is usually referred to as a speech/language pathologist and in an academic setting such as a school, this professional is usually referred to as a speech/language therapist.
What does the term articulation mean? This refers to the complex coordination process of producing our speech sounds using the lips, tongue, teeth and other speech organs.
What are misarticulations? This term refers to the speech sounds that are incorrectly made; for example when a child says fumb for thumb and somefing for something, the th sound is misarticulated with an f for th substitution.
What does it mean if my “child is stimulable”? The child is able to correctly produce an incorrectly made sound when given some extra help, (instruction, model, feedback). The more stimulable the child is for the correct production, the more favorable their prognosis for success in speech therapy.
What does speech intelligibility mean? This is a term that describes a speaker’s speech clarity as determined by a listener. If the speaker is difficult to understand, then their speech intelligibility is judged as poor or given a low percentage correct; conversely if a speaker is easy to understand, their speech intelligibility is judged as good or given a high percentage correct.
Many factors affect a speaker’s speech intelligibility including their articulatory skills, their loudness, their rate of speech, their fluency of speech and their vocal quality.

Church Season Lent
Lent is a 40-day period dedicated to prayer, fasting, and giving to those in need. It starts on Ash Wednesday and concludes at sundown on Holy Thursday. This season is a time of preparation for celebrating Christ's Resurrection at Easter.
During Lent, we deepen our relationship with God through prayer by reading Sacred Scripture, extend charity by giving alms, and practice self-restraint through fasting. Lent invites us not only to give up luxuries but also to undergo a genuine transformation of heart as we strive to follow Christ's path more closely. We reflect on our baptism, when we were united with Christ's death, freed from sin, and began a new life in Him.
While abstaining from meat on Fridays is a well-known Lenten tradition, we are also encouraged to practice self-discipline and fast in other meaningful ways. Reflecting on the roots and purpose of Lenten fasting can deepen our understanding of this practice.
Additionally, giving alms is an important way to share God's blessings—not just through monetary contributions, but by offering our time and talents. As St. John Chrysostom reminds us: “Not to enable the poor to share in our goods is to steal from them and deprive them of life. The goods we possess are not ours, but theirs.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2446).
During Lent, the baptized are encouraged to renew their commitment to Christ, while those preparing for baptism through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults engage in a time of learning and reflection as they journey toward becoming members of the Catholic Church.
This Sunday's Gospel from Luke 9:28b-36 Second Sunday of Lent
Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.
Box Top Goal
Our next Box Top goal is $600. Remember all you need to do is scan your receipts to help us reach this goal and all students will earn another dress down day.
