June Lyon County 4-H
Here is what’s new for Lyon County 4-H
Premium book and fair registration
We are excited to release the 2024 Premium Book. We encourage you to peruse the Premium Book as you consider which projects to tackle this year.
FairEntry is where you choose the classes you will exhibit at the county fair. FairEntry will close on July 8, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. When choosing age divisions, select the grade that was completed in May 2024. For example, if your 4-Her is currently or just finished grade 4, you would sign up for classes in the 3-5 grade (not the grade they are going into in fall).
Check out the most up-to-date fair schedule at: z.umn.edu/LyonFairSchedule
If you require a hard copy of this year's premium book, please contact the extension office. If you have any questions, we welcome you to reach out to any of us. It would be a pleasure to hear from you.

Welcome, our summer Intern.
Hello everyone. My name is EllaMae Grooters and I am so excited to be Lyon County's summer intern. To introduce myself, I am from the Pipestone/Lake Benton, Minnesota, area. I grew up on a dairy farm, milking about 60 Holsteins in an old-fashioned stanchion barn, before my family retired in 2021. Now, my family owns a small beef operation. I have 5 other siblings and 5 nieces and nephews. I was involved in 4-H, showing dairy cattle, participating in Fine Arts at Lincoln County, and serving as my club's president. I was also involved in FFA, where I competed in the Dairy Evaluation CDE placing as the top overall individual and placing third as a team my freshman year, and my senior year, I served as the chapter's president. A couple of weeks ago, I graduated from Lake Area Technical College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Livestock Production and Management. I am now furthering my education at Lake Area, pursuing a degree in agriculture business. Some hobbies include painting, crocheting, reading, cooking, and baking.
I am most excited to meet new people and learn about other kid's 4H projects and interests! I can't wait to meet all of you. See you soon.
