From Principal Wilken

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter February, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support in our school community. Your involvement is vital to our students’ success.

This month, we celebrate National School Counseling Week. We encourage you to engage in discussions about mental well-being with your children. We are also excited to announce the successful implementation of The Peaceful Playground program for our 2nd and 3rd grade students, which promotes conflict resolution and positive social interactions.

We are also excited for Love of Reading Week from February 10 to 14! This year, we have several fun activities planned, including a door decoration contest. Additionally, we invite you to join us for Bedtime Stories and Pajamas on ZOOM on February 13 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. We also welcome guest readers to share their favorite books with our classes. If you’d like to participate, please see the flier in this newsletter for more details.

Don’t forget about our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences later this month. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress. More information will follow.

Thank you for being an essential part of our school community. Wishing you a wonderful February!

Warm regards,

Principal Wilken

NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK

Every Student Deserves a School Counselor Poster

Dear Tully Families,

This month, we are excited to celebrate National School Counseling Week alongside Random Acts of Kindness Month! Our Tully students will participate in various social and emotional learning activities that emphasize the importance of spreading kindness. This initiative will culminate in the installation of a beautiful Ben's Bells Be-Kind Mural in the courtyard!

Additionally, February is Black History Month, a time to honor and recognize the contributions of Black individuals throughout history. I will be focusing my Love of Reading book on this significant topic, encouraging our students to learn about and appreciate the rich legacy of Black culture.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a caring and inclusive community!

Warm regards,
Mrs. Jenn Soule-Hill
School Counselor

One of the great things about Tucson is there are interesting and special things going on in our environment almost year-round. During the winter season, veggies such as broccoli, peas, lettuce, carrots, and chives can do very well - here at Tully, the students are harvesting carrots that are purple on the outside and orange on the inside. While we are enjoying the veggies of our labor, the pickings are currently a bit few and far between as the rock squirrels got into our veggie beds and enjoyed their share as well. Because of this, the 4th grade garden and ecology elective class will be building better and stronger hoop houses that will protect our future veggies from future squirrel attacks.
