International Extravaganza!
Are you interested in sharing a piece of your culture? Findley is hosting our 1st Annual International Extravaganza on May 18 from 6:00-8:00pm. We currently have representatives from over 16 different cultures, and are seeking more!
If you are interested in participating, here's some important information and a form to indicate your interest:
School Board Elections
On May 16, 2023, voters will elect three Beaverton School Board members to 4-year terms.

The Communications & Community Involvement Department will host a School Board Candidate Forum on Tuesday, April 25 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the District Administration Office, 1260 NW Waterhouse Ave., Beaverton, 97006

KOIN's Dan Tilkin will moderate the forum. Candidates will have one minute to respond. The meeting will be livestreamed to the District's YouTube channel

CARNIDADS Meeting
The next meeting of the CARNIDADS is next Wednesday, April 26th @8:00pm, located at Bethany Public House (in the back room). Come and join a fantastic team of volunteer Findley Dads as we put together the Findley Spring Carnival! It’s one of the most celebrated events of the year for our Findley kids and a great way to connect with a phenomenal group of guys. We have a ton of fun planning it every year. For anyone interested, come see what it’s about!

The sky is still gray and the weather is quite cold, so it may not feel like spring is here. However, at Findley the colors of spring are starting to shine through.
Thank you to the fall volunteers and Cub Scouts who helped with the beautification back in November. We are seeing the beautiful results of your hard work.

Walking and Rolling is Good for the Earth!
April is the month we celebrate Earth Day and one way you can help our planet and combat climate change is to replace car trips with active ones! 2 miles of driving = 1.6 lbs of carbon emissions. Think about local car trips that your family takes often. Maybe it is a trip to the park or a friend’s house. Map your route and try walking or biking instead. We often think places are farther than they seem. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your location and be amazed at what your body can do for you!
Be on the lookout for more information about our last district-wide Walk + Roll Event. May Bike Week is the first week of May and our Wheel Fairies will be out visiting schools again this year and attaching some really fun prizes to any wheels found in school racks throughout the week. More information and promotional materials coming soon!
WANTED / NEEDED
If you have some gently used clothing we would love to get them from you. New underwear is preferable for the kiddos to put on that do not have a change of clothes with them.

FINDLEY ART LITERACY NEWS!
Art makes our world more beautiful.
Art provides for self expression.
Art develops creativity and creative thinking.
Findley's Art Literacy program consists of six different art lessons presented throughout the year. Morning volunteer trainings are scheduled for each lesson to learn about the upcoming artist- and culture- inspired projects.
In the classroom, 'lead' and 'support' volunteers work together to teach about the featured artist and assist in the art-making process, resulting in unique and creative student art productions to display and take home.
We are heading into the 5th art lesson for the year, based on Warli paintings from India. Here is the full list of the inspired projects for 2022/23:

PTO Positions open
Do you have a desire to lend your leadership talent to the Findley community for the school year 2023-2024? Perhaps you will find a match in your interests in one of those roles. No previous experience is needed, we will train you.
PTO Board Positions
- Co-Vice President: Assist president whenever needed, coordinate with PTO committee leads, attend all PTO meetings, prepare to be PTO President for school year 2024-2025.
- Co-Volunteer Coordinator : Act as the primary liaison between school staff and volunteers, oversee school wide volunteer activities including identifying and filling lead volunteer positions, coordinate school office-based activities as needed, oversee management and use of BETTER IMPACT.
- Secretary: keep a record of all business transacted at each PTO meeting involving taking notes, then typing and publishing the PTO Meeting Minutes each month, attend PTO Board and PTO general meetings throughout the school year.
Committee Lead Positions
- Dragon Dash FundRaising : Many important committees come together to make Dragon Dash happen (Signage, Advertising, Sponsor Recruitment, Volunteers, Logistics, Prizes, Thank Yous, and more!).It’s all in the binder!If you have project management skills and the ability to organize, a committee lead role is for you! The reward: A Year's worth of funding for our amazing PTO programs (Art Literacy,Passport Club, Fall Festival, Findley Flyers, International Extravaganza, classroom materials, Science Fair and more) – and the hearts of all!
- Yearbook: Do you have a passion for photography? You will form your yearbook committee and set up team meetings, guide volunteers on what type of photos to take,set up and manage the Pictava website, track progress of the yearbook, advertise the yearbook sales and more. Our current yearbook lead will help you if needed.
- Findley Beautification: If you love gardening and planting, this will be the perfect role for you. You will co-lead and assist the team with fall planting and cleanup (November) and spring-summer planting and clean up (May-June) .

Student Survey Window: April 4-June 8
Student Survey
Each year the District surveys students and staff to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
Student surveys of middle and high schools included three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity / race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.

Community Resources
Student Health Center - Catherine Kately Williams is the new mental health provider. KateleyWilliamsC@nhcoregon.org It is easiest to reach her via email as she does not have a specific phone routed to her. Cat is available M-F 8-5 and will conduct sessions via zoom. She will serve a bridge gap, providing up to about 10 sessions before she moves students on to a long-term counselor if necessary. They are set up to take every major insurance plan including Kaiser for OHP kids. They will also have an intake person who can help families get the kids on OHP.
