Arizona State Testing Grades 3-5
Our teachers and staff have been working hard in supporting your child's needs and prepare them for Arizona State Testing which begins this month for students in grades 3-5.
We can make your child's test experience positive and successful by working together. Please take the time to do these little things and help your child reach their fullest potential:
- Make sure your child gets a good night's rest.
- Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school on the morning of the test.
- Make sure your child arrives at school with plenty of time to prepare for the test (rushing around never makes for a calm child).
- Encourage your child to do their best!
- April 1st, 3rd grade: Oral Reading Fluency
- April 2nd, grades 3-5: Writing
- April 5th, grades 3-5: ELA part 1
- April 8th, grades 3-5: ELA part 2
- April 16th, grades 3-5: Math part 1
- April 18th, grades 3-5: Math part 2
Garden Day, April 20th, 8am - 10am
Please join us in making our school garden look great! We will be planting more items in our garden and harvesting any fruits and vegetables that we currently have! Ensure that you are wearing clothes that are okay to get a little dirt on. Student Council members and staff members will be there to greet you and make it a fun time!
Additionally, please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult.
2023-34 Yearbook
There are currently 49 students that have been elected to not participate in TUSD Photos or Interviews. A letter will be sent to those student's parents asking permission to include your child in the yearbook. If you have any questions, please call the main office at (520) 584-7200.
More information coming soon about how to purchase yearbooks.
What's New
We have been doing some cleaning and painting around campus. We now have a dedicated space for our band and orchestra students!
We removed the poles that were in the old technology section of the library. We now have a great learning space for counseling lessons, after school tutoring and library lessons.
What's next? Maybe a STEAM or Maker's Space in the Library? I discovered a kiln here at Sewell. We are hoping to get the kiln serviced to make sure it is in working order. Then we learn how to use it so students can expand their art experiences here at Sewell.
What type of events, activities, class would you like to see? What do you think we need to improve on? I'm all ears and I would like to hear how we can bring our community together and expand our learning experiences for students. Please feel free to email Principal Eileen Gow at eileen.gow@tusd1.org.
