Welcome back! We are ready to make the next 9 weeks of school full of learning and fun! We have a lot to celebrate as we finish out the year as a California Distinguished School. There are a LOT of upcoming events including our Battle of the Books, Mathlete competitions, Junior Olympics, Spring Carvinval, CAASPP testing, and more. Simi Valley Summer School registration for the 2025 session is here! If your student is interested in general education summer school for incoming 1st through 12th grades, this information is for you.

All information for the dates, times, and locations for summer school can be found by using this link: Summer School 2025. On this site, you will also find the registration links for elementary, middle, and high school courses. Please note that elementary is for incoming 1st through 5th graders, middle school is for incoming 6th through 8th graders, and high school is for incoming 9th through 12th graders. Your student’s grade level is determined based on their grade level beginning in Fall 2025.

Some important information to note when you submit your registration:

• Simi Valley Summer School is hosted by Learn4Life/Vista Real Summer School. SVUSD provides the facilities and many of our teachers and staff will work summer school, but SVUSD does not oversee summer school.
• The courses offered are based on interest; there is no guarantee that all will be available.
• All students must have completed and submitted a Master Agreement in order to ensure that they will receive credit for their efforts. This is particularly important for students at the high school level, where earning the credits for the completed coursework is essential.
• If your student qualifies for special education Extended School Year (ESY), that registration is managed through your student’s IEP team.

There are two required steps to enroll in summer school:

• Step 1: Complete the Registration Form.
• Step 2: Complete the Master Agreement
• Unless both of these forms are completed and submitted, the student will not be registered

Please note that registration for summer school courses will close on Sunday, April 20. Make sure to complete and submit your registration before the deadline.

What do I do if my child is absent? Does my child have to stay home if he/she has a fever? Can I bring birthday treats? What time does school start? When is recess? Are crocs allowed in sport mode?

For answers to these questions and more, please review the following Madera Handbook information for important information about attendance, procedures, policies, school safety, and discipline. Please click the button below to access the handbook.

Please help your child be mindful of the weather conditions each day and be prepared with weather appropriate clothing. As we move into the "winter" season, the weather is unpredictable. Students will continue to go outside to play at recess time. Please be sure that your child's clothing is also labeled with his/her name. Even in the cold weather, students who go outside to play and run around will leave jackets and sweatshirts on the playground as they heat up from activity. We want to try to get lost items of clothing back to rightful owners!

On inclement weather days, students are usually asked to go to the MPR for the morning until the bell rings and the teacher picks them up for class.

  • The Dinner Site Calendar is linked here. Meals are available to all families in need. Samaritan Center also serves breakfast and lunch. Families can also use the showers but need to meet with a caseworker at Samaritan Center to set this up.
