Inside the Administrator’s Office
Dear CMIT North High School Families,
As we head into October, time is flying by, and there’s a lot happening at our school! I want to remind everyone that our clubs are starting up, so be sure to encourage your students to get involved. Don’t forget to follow us on social media for updates and announcements.
Also, a big thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help and offer clubs for our students! Your involvement makes a huge difference in creating a vibrant school community.
As we progress through the school year, I want to stress the importance of keeping an eye on your student's homework and classwork submissions. Most low grades come from late or missed submissions. Some students may need a little extra help staying on top of their due dates, so your follow-up at home is greatly appreciated.
Be sure to check your email and our newsletter for details about upcoming events, and remember that donations to our school are always a huge help in supporting our clubs, athletics, and after-school programs.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education!

Transition to Synergy
Pardon our dust! As mentioned before, all PGCPS schools are experiencing issues with Canvas and Synergy.
Be mindful that Canvas may provide a more accurate reflection of students’ grades, as it is used regularly for assignments and assessments.
Thanks so much,
-CMIT Admin Team

Exciting Updates from the MAPS Department!
As a member of the Maps Team, This week I visited all the content areas. In Spanish, Mr. Djer has all the students completely immersed in the Spanish language. That day they were working on verb tenses.
In Music, I was so impressed with the entire class playing the same piece of music at the same time.
In Physical Education classes it finally has stopped raining and we have been outside all week learning and playing football. Classes have been highly competitive.

Exploring Characterization and Narrative Writing in English Class
We are exploring characterization and narrative writing techniques. The students are taking a close look at the decision author's make to get their point across to their audience. Next we will be covering the importance of details, evidence, and commentary.
Engaging Reads, Real Discussions, and Exciting Rewards in Ms. O'Donnell's Class!
Ms. O'Donnell's English class has been reading A LOT so far this quarter. The classroom novels, Dear Martin and All American, have led to some real life discussions about stereotypes and privilege. It has been a great start to the year.
Book Groups continue to be a highlight of the week. Completely student run, it allows students to discuss a book they chose and share opinions, thoughts and insights on all aspects of the writing. Having hot chocolate, tea and snacks while discussing the book is also a big hit!
And Ms. O'Donnell's kickboard store is up and running. Students can use their kickboard bucks to buy treats, supplies and other fun items.
If anyone would like to donate items to the store, please let Ms. O'Donnell know. Variety boxes of chips, cookies, candy, stickers, hot chocolate are all welcome!

AP Government Students Visit National Constitution Center for Hands-On Learning Experience
On Wednesday, October 9, 33 AP Government and Politics students visited the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to engage in the Constitutional Ambassador Program focused on Separation of Powers. During their visit, the students explored the exhibits, seeking out examples of Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances, and Federalism. Afterward, they returned to the classroom for an insightful discussion with Judge Patricia Mayer, a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. This unique opportunity allowed the students to learn about her profession and ask questions, deepening their understanding of the judicial system.
Exciting Trip to the American Revolution Museum: from the AP US History
Our AP US History students embarked on an exciting educational adventure to the American Revolution Museum in Philadelphia! The trip offered a unique opportunity to dive into the pivotal moments of America's fight for independence. Students explored interactive exhibits, artifacts, and immersive experiences that brought the Revolutionary War to life. It was a chance to connect classroom learning with real-world history and gain deeper insights into the birth of our nation.
