From the Principal
Greetings Riverview families!
I hope you are having a nice long weekend with family. The staff at Riverview is learning a great deal about academics strategies, technology, and social emotional learning so that we can teach your children more effectively and efficiently.
Next week brings picture retakes and our fundraiser night at Chipotle. Halloween is also getting closer, so be sure to read the information in the newsletter below!
On an important note, please read below about the district's new sign-in/out procedures. Beginning Tuesday everyone must show your ID to the camera outside before entering the building. That same ID will then be used to sign students in/out of the building. Thank you in advance for your patience as we create a more safe campus for ALL!
Have a fantastic, beautiful fall weekend!
Sincerely,
Lea Ann Combs
Riverview Interim Principal

Picture Retakes
Retake photos are scheduled for October 23rd for anyone who missed getting their pictures taken or for those who would like their photos retaken.
Below is information on how to order your school photos.
Hearing and Vision Testing
We have started hearing & vision screenings for students for this school year. We are hoping to have them completed by the end of November. Below is our district website for specific information on which students will be screened.
If your student needs any follow-up from these screenings, we will send a letter home with them. Please remember these are very basic screenings & don't replace seeing a qualified professional for vision or hearing. If your student passes the screenings the information will be entered into skyward.
You may view your student's results by signing into Skyward. Click on Family Access, then Display Options, next click on Tests, then click on either hearing or vision to see the results.
Thank you so much!

Signing In/Out Students- Bring Your ID's!
Please see new district guidelines for signing students in/out at Riverview. Remember to bring your ID's! These will be REQUIRED to show on camera before entering the building!
- Check-Out: Parents will be required to check out students in person by scanning their ID. The system will display the students they are authorized to check out. If someone other than a parent is picking up the student, their name can be entered, but staff must verify the authorization. ID scanning is mandatory, with exceptions made only in rare circumstances.
- Check-In: Parents will also need to check in their student upon arrival. After entering the information, the system will print a return-to-class pass for the student to give to their teacher, eliminating handwritten passes
Veteran's Day Submission Form
To honor those who have served/are serving in the armed forces, our school is planning the annual assembly for veterans. Our Veteran’s Day Assembly will recognize our vets on Monday, November 11th at 9:30. In the past, we have had a slideshow honoring the vets closest to us at Riverview. All students are encouraged to send in pictures (digital or paper) of a relative or close friend of the family to be included. Your vet does not have to attend to be included.
Paper pictures will be returned after they are scanned. If you choose to send a paper copy; please make sure there is identifying information either in the form of a post it or written directly on the
picture.
If pictures were in the slideshow last year…they will automatically be included. If you have any updates such as dates of service, Kindergarten siblings to add etc...….you are welcome to send those. Please fill out the form and send it along with your labeled picture/email by Thursday, October 17th.
Any digital picture submissions please send to Traci Seyb: tseyb@usd232.org with the information below typed out in the body of the email.
If your student is bringing a veteran to honor, please consider having them utilize the introduction template. This will help guide students with what to say when introducing their special guest.
Please send the introduction template with your student or veteran on the day of. We want you to have the opportunity to practice at home.
We look forward to your submissions!
October Character Trait- Kindness
This month our character trait focus is on Kindness. We are using a movie theme for this year’s Peace Week. Lights, Camera, Kindness. We will be learning and talking about ways to show kindness to ourselves and others. Lessons will focus on being kind and bully-free. Our world needs more kindness. Our definition of kindness is acting with understanding, generosity, and care.
At home have the conversation about what kindness means to you. The following activities are ways to focus on kindness at home:
- Kindness Jar: Create a jar where family members can add notes about kind acts they’ve done or witnessed. Read then together at the end of each month.
- Compliment Challenge: Each family member takes turns giving genuine compliments to everyone else. It’s a great way to boost confidence and spread positivity,
- Kindness Walk: Go for a family walk and look for opportunities to spread kindness, like picking up trash, complementing people, or helping someone with groceries.
- Gratitude Practice: Each night at dinner, share one thing you appreciated about someone else in the family. It fosters gratitude and kindness.
November character trait is Gratitude
