The Plainsmen Press- Parent Edition

We love our students and we want them here every day! Please help us out by getting your child to school by 7:35a! We open our doors as early at 7:15a if you need to drop off even earlier! When your child arrives after 7:35a they risk missing breakfast, having a lunch choice AND, most important, crucial minutes of learning. Our school day STARTS at 7:45a so we want students fed and in seats when that bell rings. Thank you for supporting our campus by getting your child to school on time!

Guests are invited to eat with their students in the grade levels listed above for Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, November 6th.

• Students are limited to 2 guests per student and if you plan to eat the provided meal, you must return the order form below and $5 per ticket by Thurs, Oct 31st.
• We highly recommend that you scan the QR code to pre-register to avoid the kiosk line.

We are super excited to raise money from Panda Express on Thursday, November 7th! Please join us by purchasing food from the Panda Express located at 5806 19th Street between 9:30a and 11p! Huge thanks for Panda Express for partnering with us to fundraise AND for donating supplies to the art classroom!

On Thursday, November 7th, students are asked to dress like a Panda! Wear black and white!

We are so excited to start the Wheelock Chapter of the All Pro Dads. At Wheelock, we'll call it the All Pro Plainsmen because, while dads are encouraged to attend, we welcome all parents and father figures! Coach Fleming, Mrs. Barnwell, and other volunteers will lead us one Friday a month in strengthening our family and school connections. Dad/Plainsmen Parents will attend alongside their students. And, to top it all off, breakfast will be served! All Pro Plainsmen will meet in the gym on scheduled days from 7:00-7:45a. We'll see you on November 8th! Please enter through the gate by the gym.

5TH GRADE PARENTS! It's time to start thinking about middle school! Please check out the information below about upcoming open houses!

Mrs. Barnwell has been a wonderful addition to our campus as our new Communities in Schools (CIS) liaison! Please check your child's folder for consent forms. Once completed, Mrs. Barnwell can serve your student! You can reach her at jennifer.barnwell@lubbockisd.org or call the front office at 806-219-7200! She will also be available for office hours each Tuesday in the library after school until 4:30p!

-Our doors open at 7:15a. Students are welcome to begin entering the building at that time.

-The tardy bell rings at 7:45a. Please have your child on campus with enough time to eat breakfast and begin learning at 7:45a. By 7:30a is ideal. Tardy students miss instruction.

-If your child must be absent, you must call to let us know. Call 806-219-7200 to report all absences.

-Cell phones are not permitted to be used during the school day. They must be off and put away. If students have them out or are using them, they will be taken up and a parent will be asked to pick it up.

You are WELCOME in our building! Thank you for helping us to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff! If you plan to walk your child to their classroom, visit a classroom or have lunch with your student, you will be required to sign in with your picture ID. If you are picking up a student early or from PK, the same expectation is in place. All pickup and drop offs will take place through the front entrance. All visitors must wear a badge that indicates they have signed in. If you'd like to meet with a teacher, please make an appointment during the teacher's conference time by emailing, calling or sending a Dojo message to the teacher.
