🐾End of Quarter Celebration 🐾

The end of semester is quickly approaching which means it will be time for our end of quarter celebration! This quarter’s celebration will have additional expectations for students to fulfil in order to be able to attend and we want to make sure our students know the stipulations in advance. This quarter’s celebration will include a dance, movie showing, time in the library, and a game room. Students attending the celebration will be able to make purchases from the concession stand or the traveling concessions cart.

In order for students to attend they should be:

Passing all of their classes - meaning students should not have any Fs for their quarter grade
Students should not have more than 3 unexcused absences this quarter
Students should not have 3 or more discipline referrals this quarter

🐾 Remember to Charge Your Device! 🐾

Having a fully charged Chromebook each morning is important for school success. When your device is charged, you’re ready to participate in lessons, complete assignments, and access learning resources without interruptions. A low battery can disrupt your schoolwork and cause you to miss important parts of a lesson. Charging your Chromebook every night helps ensure that you’re prepared for the school day and can focus on learning instead of looking for a charger or missing out on activities. Additionally, have your charger with you daily in case your device needs a mid-day charge! Make charging your device a part of your nightly routine so you’re always prepared for the day ahead!

🐾Operation Christmas Spirit🐾

Canned Food Drive

The Student Council is hosting a canned food drive to help restock the Good Samaritan Food Pantry of Jennings County! Students should place their canned goods into their SRT-Teams box that is housed in The Commons. The team with the most canned goods collected will earn bonus points towards the Operation Christmas Spirit competitions held on Friday, December 20th!

🐾Checkpoint Testing Round 2🐾

Next week, students will begin the second round of ILEARN checkpoint testing. Students will test in their language arts and math classes. Each checkpoint has 20-25 questions and will show how your child is doing in key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards.

Students will complete checkpoint tests in their Language Arts and Math classes. Here is our testing schedule:

Tuesday, December 10, 2024 - Math Test

Wednesday, December 11, 2024 - Math Test
Thursday, December 12, 2024 - Language Arts Test
Friday, December 13, 2024 - Language Arts Test

Here are a few testing tips for this week:

Get Plenty of Rest!

Make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night leading up to the test. A well-rested brain performs much better!

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Fuel your brain with a balanced breakfast on test days. Include protein (eggs, yogurt), whole grains (toast, cereal), and fruits for long-lasting energy.

Stay Calm and Positive

Confidence is key! Take deep breaths, relax, and remind yourself that you’ve been preparing all year. A positive mindset can help you perform better.

Bring Necessary Supplies

Ensure you have all the materials you’ll need for the test— Chromebook, charger, and pencil/pen.

SALT will be hosting a PINK OUT! night on Monday, December 2nd as the Boys Basketball Team takes on the South Decatur Cougars!

🐾 JCMS Volleyball Holiday Volleyball Tournament 🐾

EXCITING NEWS!!

Join us for the first annual JCMS Holiday Volleyball Tournament! This tournament serves as a fundraiser for the upcoming season. The money collected will allow us to buy things such as new balls, ball bags, etc.

We would love to get enough teams signed up to have 2 different brackets: an intermediate and an advanced.

🐾 PARENTS & GUARDIANS OF ATHLETES PARTICIPATING IN WORKOUTS🐾

Reminder: to participate in athletics, student athletes MUST have a sports physical on file at JCMS and must be registered on Final Forms.

Schneck Urgent Care at 1124 Medical Pl. Seymour, IN 47274 is open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday-Friday and 8 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. This location offers sports physicals for $25 cash/debit/credit (meaning they do not run insurance)

If your athlete attended tonight’s after school workout and did not have a physical on file, they received a form that can be filled out and taken to their physical. Having this filled out ahead of time will make your trip much quicker. If they do not have a form, they can get one from the JCMS athletic office!
