Winter Weather School Closure Information
Student safety is always our first consideration when it comes to cancelling school or events. Three factors impact the decision to close schools: road conditions, temperature, and visibility are all considered when determining whether or not conditions warrant school cancellation. We consult with a number of different people when determining school closures including, township road commissioners, area superintendents, and our transportation director. There is no single rule for snow accumulation amounts or temperature, but blowing and/or drifting snow plays a large factor in the decision as well as wind chill. School closures will not be based solely on forecasts and every effort will be made to decide and inform families as quickly as possible.
Winter Weather Recess
Recess for Kindergarten-Fifth Grade
The weather is getting colder and it's time to think about recess during the winter months. Students in K-5 will be outside for recess when the "feels like" temperature is 15 degrees or warmer. If students want to play in the snow they will need to have the following: Snowpants, Boots, Gloves, Hats & Coats. If they do not have these they will stay on the sidewalks. If families need assistance with outdoor snow gear please contact Ms. DuBois at jdubois@2paws.net or Mrs. Hansen at lhansen@2paws.net

Parents, we have some younger students that aren't sure if they should have breakfast or not. Please let your child know if you would like them to have breakfast at school or not.
We will be offering a cold take and eat breakfast this year. Students can take a breakfast bag and eat in the cafeteria, or take it to their classroom before school begins and eat while getting ready for the day. The time to grab a breakfast bag will be from 7:45-8:00, so be sure to get to school on time!
Breakfast price: $2.00 (free and reduced students have either a free or reduced rate)
Lunch prices have increased for this year. They are as follows:
*K-5: $2.50
*6-8: $2.75
Adults: $3.15
*free and reduced students have either a free or reduced rate
**Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pickup**
This year the circle drive in front of the school will be closed to regular traffic from 7:40-8:00 a.m. and from 2:40-3:10. Buses will be using the drive to drop off and pick up students. Students who walk or get dropped off/picked up will need to do so at the sidewalk or the gravel parking lot on Chapman St. Parents are free to park and walk their child to the school door for drop off and walk back for pick up at the end of the day. The circle drive will be open the rest of the day for regular school business activities.
The shuttle to Indian Creek High School will pick up high school students in the front circle drive and will leave Paw Paw School at 7:55 every morning.
Bus Students
If you are a bus rider please be ready for the bus at the time your driver tells you is your pick up time. This helps ensure our routes stay on schedule.

HANDLE WITH CARE
Handle with Care
If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details, and that is okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please message us, “Handle with care.” Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help throughout the school day.
