Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Art Rutkin Families,
Family Partnership Days:
We are looking forward to seeing all our families during Family Partnership Days next week. Family Partnership meetings will be held mainly on October 24th and October 25th unless other scheduling was made with your child’s teacher. Please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible if you have not scheduled a meeting time yet. Parent involvement is critical for your child’s success, learning, attitudes about school and aspirations. Parents, students and teachers must all work together to make an unbeatable team of support for every child. These meetings serve as an important time to continue building strong home-school connections. We look forward to seeing you all during Family Partnership Days.
Some suggestions for a successful family partnership meeting:
Before the meeting:
Write down any questions you want to discuss.
Ask your child how they feel about school, and if there are any topics, or questions, you should discuss with the teacher.
Consider sharing any important information that may affect your child’s performance at school. Be sure to let the teacher know important life changes at home if necessary.
On meeting day:
Arrive on time and stay only for the amount of time scheduled for your appointment. If important questions have not been discussed, ask for a follow up appointment, or phone call.
Ask questions about the information you get from the teacher. We want you to understand everything discussed before the meeting ends?
Have your child introduce you to the music, P.E. teacher, our student support specialist, multilingual services specialist and any other adult who you have not met yet. There are many support staff that would like to get a chance to say hello. It’s an excellent time to learn about the programs planned for this year, and your child’s progress.
After the meeting:
Follow up on next steps agreed to by you, your child’s teacher and your child.
Stay in touch with the teacher. Connect through ParentSquare, email or phone with any questions that you have later this school year.
Discuss what was said during the conference with your child. Be sure to celebrate any successes and positive comments the teacher shared.
Use this as a chance to praise your child!
