Principal's Message

Good afternoon Patton families,

Our students had an excellent week filled with a drama performance, STAR testing and several other activities. They did great adapting to different schedules and staying committed to their education. Next week the focus will be maintaining their school work and catching up on homework/missing work.

If your child has missing assignments we would invite them to join us after school on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm in the library for our after school peer assistance program.

Mrs. Paradies

Let me tell you about Penny Paradies, the ELA 7 and Drama teacher at Patton. This year marks her 42nd year of teaching at the school - that's quite a milestone! Penny believes learning should be an enjoyable experience, so she tries to make it fun for her students. One unique trait she has is an uncanny ability to remember trivial information.

When she's not at school, Penny enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading books, and watching sports. Although she may seem outgoing in the classroom, she actually considers herself an introvert in large group settings. Penny appreciates sincerity, whether it's giving compliments, receiving them, or hearing others compliment someone else.

There's something Penny wishes more people knew about her - how incredibly important her family is to her. She cherishes her roles as a daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt. Penny's roots span across the Midwestern states of Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. Her educational background includes degrees from the University of Kansas and Emporia State University.

NURSE CORNER

Illness absent protocol for Patton

Please call the school for any absences or tardiness. This allows us to record the absence.

USD 207 policy states that all students should be kept at home for illnesses until free from fever, diarrhea, or vomiting for 24 hours without the aid of medications. A fever is considered to be 99.6 degrees or above.
Your student will be marked Excused only if the Nurse calls and states the kid needs to go home. If the Parent chooses to take the student home it will be marked unexcused until a Medical Note is provided.
