AR Night
Wildlight Elementary hosted Accelerated Reader Night for students to come and read and quiz from four to six pm on May 9, 2024. Principal Amber Bovinette, Reading Coach Natalie Faucher, and teachers Jennifer Cross and Dallas Hannar helped students find books on their level and awarded prizes for students who completed their goals for the fourth nine weeks.

Field Trip to Fairytale Land
Ms. Long’s Second-Grade class took a trip to Fairytale Land to host a trial for the big bad wolf. They explored important vocabulary, practiced high-level text reading fluency, and dove deep into the justice system.
Middle School 101
All Bryceville Elementary School 5th graders participated in "Middle School 101" with School Social Worker Sarah Hager and Behavior Specialist Kimberly Degelmann. Students were energetic and excited to discuss strategies and skills needed to be successful in middle school. They had a robust question-and-answer session, and they identified avenues of additional support and assistance in the middle school setting! Way to go, BOBCATS! We are excited to see and hear of your success in middle school!
Garnet and Gold Chapter of The National English Honor Society
At its induction ceremony on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, West Nassau High School established the Garnet and Gold Chapter of The National English Honor Society. This esteemed organization celebrates and promotes a love for language, literature, and the written word.
The induction ceremony symbolizes students' commitment to upholding the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. It serves as a catalyst for continued growth and learning, inspiring new members to connect with like-minded peers, engage in meaningful discussions, and make positive impacts in their communities through service projects and outreach efforts.
Claire Turner, NEHS founding member and President, led the induction ceremony along with her fellow officers: Kierson Jaques, Vice President; Leyla Selph, Secretary; Jatha Kirk, Treasurer; Ryleigh Overstreet, Historian; and Hailey Dilmuth, Webmaster.

Lego Day!
Ms. Cacciapouti's 2nd graders learned about the history of Legos as part of the Alphabet Countdown to Summer. They continued to learn more about multiplication with Legos and used their imaginations to create structures.
Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Department
The district's mental health department, which includes school social workers and psychologists, wore green in May to support Mental Health Awareness Month. Some schools will be participating in wonderful activities to promote mental health this month.

Amelia Island Book Festival
The Amelia Island Book Festival held a short story contest this year with the theme "What Event Has Changed You."
Fernandina Beach Middle School had 22 submissions and five notable winners:
Lucas Mills and Noah Sheehan's writings were recognized. Paige Morenc and Taylor Tardiff received honorable mentions. (There were only four given in all of Nassau County.) and Emma Belcher won 3rd place in the middle school division.
All students are now published authors in the Book Festival's Short Story Collection and were recognized along with all other Nassau County teen authors at Story and Song Bookstore last weekend.

Mystery 5K Run
Registration is now open for the new Mystery 5K Run date, June 1! Along with the mystery prizes there will be a prize for the Nassau District school with the most students registered! Start the summer with in a healthy and active way with the whole family It can set the tone for your entire summer!
