Hungate Echo
Autumn Term 2, Week 3
A word from Mr Broom
It's been an incredibly musical week in school, with our staff completing exciting Drumba training that our children and community are going to absolutely love. More to follow so watch this space.
Meanwhile, I've met with all our teachers to set appraisal targets this week. These are all focussed on sharpening their already strong teaching skills to make learning even better for our children. I'm also delighted to let you know that Mrs Walker has been successful in becoming a senior literacy specialist, in a similar way to Miss Mackay for Mathematics. They really are a talented bunch!
Next week, our Y5/6 children are heading to the Yorkshire Children's Charity Christmas Party at the Pavillion, Elland Road. I can't wait!
Have a super weekend everyone!

Compass Martial Arts - ICO World Championships
Students from Compass Martial Arts & Sherburn Hungate primary school returned from the Martial Arts ICO World championships in Frankfurt, Germany at the beginning of October. Our students wowed the judges & spectators performing katas, extreme forms & weapons. Prior to their trip they had worked so hard to raise money to help with funding & committed hours upon hours to their training.
In total 5 Sherburn Hungate students represented England, some for the second year in a row! In total Compass Martial arts won 134 medals in total, 48 Gold, 51 silver & 36 Bronze. The children wanted to put Compass Martial Arts & Sherburn Hungate Primary school on the map through dedication & a lot of hard work.
Since returning home all of the students are training with even more determination hoping to represent England again.
