Good afternoon,
We hope everyone had a good snow day yesterday! It is hard to believe that we are already in December. We are looking forward to the next three weeks and know how quickly they will go by! A Look Into Our Panther Community
The 7th grade math students have successfully completed their unit on the area and circumference of a circle. Throughout this unit, they learned how to identify the radius and diameter of a circle, as well as how to calculate the area and circumference using key formulas, such as A=πr2 for area and C=2πr for circumference. To prepare for the upcoming test, the students participated in a quest filled with a variety of problems, ranging from basic calculations to more complex problems. These activities were designed to challenge their understanding and provide practical, real-world applications of the concepts. The quest gave students the opportunity to work through different types of problems, helping them build confidence and strengthen their skills in preparation for the final assessment.
Monday we held our annual Capstone Kick-Off Town Hall with 8th graders as we introduce them to the Capstone project. Capstone handbooks were sent out on Parentsquare on Monday.
8th grade students launched their Capstone Experience with an assembly that introduced them to the concept of a capstone project. As part of this exciting journey, students will select a topic they are passionate about and take meaningful action. Throughout the week, they used FLEX time in their homerooms to brainstorm ideas and explore potential directions for their projects.
Unified Sports & PBIS Pep Rally
Last week we held our first ever PBIS Pep Rally. Our Unified Sports team members kicked off the week by visiting each homeroom to discuss the importance of inclusion and what Unified Sports means.
Last Wednesday afternoon, we hosted our PBIS Pep Rally. Captains from each Fall team took the stage to introduce their squads and highlight their accomplishments from the season. The event transitioned into an exciting basketball game featuring staff members and the Unified Sports team, with students enthusiastically cheering for both sides. The rally concluded with a thrilling grade-level free-throw competition. With the year-long grade-level contest neck and neck, we can’t wait to see which grade will come out on top by the end of the year!
In Family and Consumer Science classes, students practiced their measurement skills by baking pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They adjusted the recipe by halving the measurements to create the perfect portion for their team. Through teamwork and collaboration, students successfully baked a batch of tasty cookies!
Positive Office Referrals
Below are students who have received Positive Office Referrals for their behaviors that have exemplified our PBIS pillars of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Pride. Students were able to choose a reward from our menu of options like eating outside with friends or prizes that we have. Great job! Some of the students rewarded are pictured below:

Nurse's Corner
Friendly reminders from your school nurse:
*School field trips are starting to pop up! Please make sure I have your child's medication/s in the health office so that they may participate.
*There are lots of germs going around right now so please remember to keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Even if it's just for the morning so you can reevaluate and send them to school if they have improved. Reminder that you should be fever-free for 24 hours to return to school WITHOUT fever reducing medication. Students must be able to keep food and fluids down (without vomiting or diarrhea) in order to return.
Thank you for your continued support!
Attendance Reminder
Per the East Hampton Board of Education’s Attendance Policy and Connecticut statute, parents and guardians may only approve the first 9 absences of the school year with a parent note. Absences 10 and above can only be excused with further documentation and under specific circumstances.
In addition, if a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
