Before joining the team, she taught secondary mathematics for ten years at her Alma Mater, The Aquinas Institute. Sara earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of Rochester and a master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from SUNY Brockport. Currently, she is enrolled in the Educational Administration program at SUNY Brockport to further her education and ability to support our districts.
Outside of school, Sara enjoys chauffeuring her 7 year old son, Dylan, to all of the various hockey rinks in the greater Rochester area. She is also a volunteer Firefighter and EMT with the Spencerport Fire Department, alongside her husband, Dan.
Leading and Creating Cultures of Joy
Join us at BOCES 2 Professional Development Center on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Of all the competing school priorities, perhaps the one getting the least attention and focus is joy. Setting ourselves and our students up to live successful and joyful lives has never been more critical. As leaders, we are the linchpin in this pursuit. This workshop will encourage leaders to rethink and revisit ways in which we have already begun to create these cultures but also explore new approaches to address today's specific challenges. The day will be built around cognitive dissonance, meaningful conversations, and time to play and experience some joy as we learn together!

Creating Math Assessments Aligned to the NGLS
Join us at BOCES 2 Professional Development Center on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
The NYS NGLS assessments for grades 3-8 will finally be here in June! What are we currently doing to support student success and what do we need to change? This session will focus on the changes the NGLS bring and reviewing current resources and tasks to best prepare our students. Participants will leave with a bank of aligned questions and tasks to begin implementing immediately and will have time to collaborate in teams.
SEL and ELA
Join us at BOCES 2 Professional Development Center on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Social & Emotional Learning is more important than ever, yet many teachers are feeling pressure to help children ‘catch up' academically. Designed for elementary school educators, this interactive and engaging session provides teachers with strategies to bolster children's ELA skills while building their SEL capacity at the same time. Educators will gain practical strategies that strengthen the teaching and learning of SEL and ELA in bi-directional ways using culturally diverse children's literature and morning meetings as primary platforms.
Exploring Best Practices in Phonics/Word Study Instruction, Gr 3-5
Join us at BOCES 2 Professional Development Center on Friday, February 10, 2023.
Join us for a full day to explore the best practices in the teaching of phonics/word study. We will discuss the importance of having a clear scope and sequence, using assessment to differentiate instruction, and helping students apply their learning to their reading and writing. We will explore options for lesson structures, including teaching phonics/word study in guided reading lessons. We will also explore ways to keep instruction engaging, lively, efficient, and effective! You will leave the session with a deeper understanding of how children's word knowledge develops to inform your classroom decision-making going forward.
