Recruitment Compilation
What is Color Guard?
Color guard is a combination of dance and spinning equipment. We spin flags, rifles, and sabres!
- In the Fall semester, we perform with the marching band in the halftime show during football games and at contests.
- In the Spring semester, we compete inside of a gym to recorded music (without the band). This is called "winter guard."
- In high school you will earn a PE credit for one semester, and a fine arts credit for the other!
- You will be eligible to receive a letterman jacket after competing for four semesters.
Important Information
- Physicals: If you're going to be a freshman or a junior next school year, you will need to complete a physical before June 1st.
- Dues: Each member will need to pay their band fees (approximately $165 for incoming freshmen). You can make small payments for this up THROUGH September.
- Mandatory Guard Camp: If you make the team, be prepared to attend a mandatory camp (DATES TBD). You will learn ALL of the choreography for the 2020 Fall Show. If you cannot attend, prepare to be an alternate.
- Next Year's Show: Our show next year is called Allegiance. It is a tribute to the U.S.A. and we will have custom uniforms and brand new flags!
Try-Out Process
Due to schools being closed and social distancing, we will have a three-step try-out process.
- Step 1: Complete the interest survey found on this page (scroll down to see it)
- Step 2: You will be sent a form to share with one teacher for a recommendation (due by Wednesday, May 13th)
- Step 3: You will be invited to a parent informational Zoom meeting on Thursday, May 14th at 6:30pm.
That's it! Complete all three steps and you're in! We can't wait to start!
