A Spring of Celebrations
Dear Families,
What a great spring we are having at NBAPS!
On May 8 we held our twice-annual Walk and Roll to school event, and we were joined by over 200 participants! The event provided a wonderful opportunity to walk and talk with a variety of people. One memorable chat was with a parent who shared insightful stories about our community and their hopes for their child's education. I also listened to an elementary student bubbling with excitement about walking alongside a friend, a moment that highlighted the joy and simplicity of childhood friendships. Additionally, a teacher on paternity leave joined us, eager to catch up with colleagues and students, demonstrating the strong bonds and dedication within our school community. It was a great way to spend time with fellow Vikings!
Last Saturday, May 11, I participated in a "Tour of North Branch" with representatives from the City, School Board and Chisago County Commission. North Branch is such an integral part of Chisago County and I am grateful they took the time to see road projects being considered, the industrial park, progress on road construction, walking trails that provide safe routes to school, hear about our school district priorities, and how we can benefit from alignment between the school district, city and county as we continue to grow.
On Wednesday, May 15, the North Branch area community gave over $169,000 to students planning to continue their education beyond high school. It is astounding how much area businesses, organizations and families generously donate each year to support our graduates, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible amount of support these students receive. Scholarship donors expressed appreciation for the gratitude shown by scholarship recipients. The next day, two of our students found out their donor had planned to attend the event but was unexpectedly admitted into the hospital. In true Viking fashion, these students created videos to express their appreciation for their scholarships. The videos were shown to him the next day at the hospital and it was a priceless moment to see him well up with joyful tears. I continue to be amazed by the young adults that are part of our Viking graduating class of 2024!
As we wind toward the end of the school year, I also want to express my gratitude to all of the students and families we serve, the staff who serve them, and the greater community that supports all of us in that endeavor. Thank you from all of us here at North Branch Area Public Schools. We love to serve you!
