Prayer
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
It is difficult to believe that we are already at the end of the school year, and what a year it has been for all of us, adapting to new ways of doing things. But with God’s help we are surviving and will do so over the next 12 months.
It has been nice to see so many of you in the Town Hall meetings so far; we are halfway through the meetings and will finish on Tuesday with our incoming Kindergarteners and students who are new to the school.
As you can imagine many plans need to be devised between now and the beginning of the new school year on August 25th. From the meetings so far, we are getting a better idea where families are standing regarding the Pandemic, with the school closure, and in looking toward the reopening. I have set up a reopening task force consisting of the Leadership Team and three parents from the School Board. The task force members are Miss Johanson, Mrs. Gatmen, Mrs. Mancinetti, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Binetti, Ms. Czyzyk, and Mr. Suarez. We anticipate having our reopening plan by the end of June. As with many things, there may be updates and changes coming from the CDC and local health department. Our plans are driven by the guidelines and directives from the San Mateo County Health Department.
Congratulations to Mrs. Lucchesi on having a baby boy this week. We wish her and her family all the best in the future.
Congratulations to our 8th graders who will be graduating next Thursday, June 4th. It has been a tough time for all graduates who are finishing either 8th grade or 12th grade under these new conditions. We wish them all the best for the future.
Staffing Changes:
As in any organization, there are often changes and likewise for All Souls. We wish to bid farewell the following people and welcome new staff members.
Miss Johanson will be retiring from All Souls after serving the community for 40 years. During that time, she was the Kindergarten teacher and then the Vice Principal. She certainly has deserved this time of retirement as she enters a new phase in her life.
Ms. Lucchesi will be remaining home with her children. She was with the school for 11 years, and we will miss her in the Junior High and for her work moderating the yearbook.
Mr. Conmy will be returning to full time studies completing his Doctorate. His contribution to the school technology infrastructure certainly be missed as well as his contribution to STEM education with the students.
Welcome Aboard The Following New Staff:
Mr. Clint Smithwill be the 5th Grade Homeroom teacher and Social Studies/History teacher for grades 5 – 8.
Mr. Enrique Pineda will be our new Technology teacher and Spanish teacher.
Miss Jane Troja will be our new Kindergarten Teacher Assistant.
Dr. Bruce Colville will be our new School Counselor once a week.
Other Staff Changes:
Mrs. Gatmen will be assuming the position of Vice Principal. She will be leaving the Learning Support Director position.
Ms. Cadelago, who has been the 2nd grade Teacher Assistant, will be our new Learning Support Director.
Mrs. Horne will be moving from Kindergarten Assistant to the 2nd grade Teacher Assistant position.
Principal's Awards:
The Principal's Awards Ceremony for Grades K-7 will be held on Friday, June 5th at 9am on Zoom. Please click this link.
Books Drop Off:
You would have received information to sign up for a day and time to return your child’s books and to collect your child’s belongings, yearbook, and report card during the week of June 8th. If you have not signed up you can do so by clicking the following link: Signup Students that will not be returning for the following school year are asked to please return your school laptop at this time.
Finally, I wish to thank all families for your continued support throughout the year, and I wish you all the best during the summer vacation break. I look forward to seeing you back in August.

Ms. J's Journal
“So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu.”
- Songwriters: Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II
The number 40 appears many times in the Bible. The great flood lasted 40 days. Moses’ flight from Egypt took 40 years, and he stayed on the mount 40 days to receive the Commandments. Jesus was tempted for 40 days in the desert, and there were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension. There are many other references to the number 40 in the Bible, and some theologians have speculated that the number was associated with impending change.
So, I find it fitting that the number 40 should represent the finish of my years here at All Souls. I could not have imagined, when I graduated from college and received my credential, that my entire career would be spent in one school. This is especially surprising when you consider that I hadn’t even applied for the job, but ended up getting a phone call out of the blue.
I’ve been blessed to do a job I love in a place I love for forty years. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of the school staff, students, and families that have been a part of my All Souls experience. It has been an honor to be part of this wonderful community.
All the best,
Miss J

BOX TOPS
Box Tops for Education was started by General Mills in California back in 1996, after the company decided they wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools. All Souls has benefitted from this program over the years, receiving sports equipment, microscopes, and a variety of other educational items.
You can help by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast.
There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. For a full list of eligible items check the Box Tops for Education website at https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn .
Please see the flyer below for more details about new additions to the Box Tops program.
