Dear Wredling Families:
What a week! The Illinois Assessment of Readiness or IAR has (almost) come to a close. Overall, all of our students did a fantastic job. They navigated testing with grace and perseverance and even reported feeling confident. We are very PROUD of our Redhawks. After this week, only students needing to participate in make-up sessions will have testing. Those students and teachers affected will be notified individually. If you have any questions, please contact Francesca Favero, assistant principal at (331)-228-5232 or francesca.favero@d303.org. Again, thank you for all that you did to help prepare our students for these tests and get them here on time.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim
IMPORTANT STUDENT LUNCH ANNOUNCEMENT!
Parents, we need your help with lunch ordering! Each day, we have a large number who wait in line and expect a hot lunch, but they did NOT submit their daily lunch order on their Chromebook by 9:40am. This should be a daily habit at this point in the school year. We have multiple reminders for students to order each day. There is a daily reminder in announcements, teachers remind students each morning, and the lunch staff are constantly reminding students as well.
Please note: If students do not order a hot lunch we can NOT guarantee they will get a hot lunch. Instead they will be offered a cold lunch. Students were doing a better job of ordering lunches during the first semester. Hopefully with your help we can get them back in that daily habit.
Please watch this video on how students order their lunch.
Students can access this WMS LUNCH ORDER FORM with their login credentials (D303 student emaill and password). Only students that need to order lunch should complete the form and be sure to click SUBMIT. If a student is bringing lunch from home, he/she will not have to complete this form.
Students will be allowed to enter orders (starting at 6PM the prior day) into a google form, organized by the school, to select the following choices.
A) Current Day HOT Lunch
B) Current Day COLD Lunch
C) Vegetarian Entree
All meal orders must be submitted by 9:40AM each school day. Organic Life will run a report shortly after to get the total counts. The lunch staff only cook enough lunches for those who have completed the online order form.
A few important reminders:
Students who submitted a lunch order for the day will be served first.
Students who have their school ID will be served first.
Students who did NOT submit a hot lunch order cannot be guaranteed a hot lunch, however, a cold lunch will be offered.
Your student has been emailed a similar message.
Thank you for your help!
8th Grade End-of-Year Celebrations
We are working with our PTO to plan our 8th-grade end-of-year celebrations. We have three fun events planned!
On Tuesday, May 24th we will host an 8th-grade Dance and Social in the early evening. We will need a large number of volunteers to make this dance successful, so look for information soon! Our theme is "Hollywood!" There will be a $10 charge for this event, though all students on free and reduced lunch will receive a complimentary ticket. More information to follow in late April
On Wednesday, May 25th in the morning, we will hold an 8th-grade awards ceremony at the Norris Cultural Arts Center. All parents are welcome, but we specifically invite those whose children will be receiving an award.
On Wednesday, May 25 our PTO will host a lunch for our 8th-grade students. Again, we will need plenty of volunteers for this event, so look for information soon.

Way to Go Emmett Kopp!
Emmett Kopp (Pod 6-1) is a Level 7 gymnast with the St. Charles Gymnastics Academy. Emmett went on to compete in the Region 5 Championship for boys gymnastics on April 2nd in Dayton, Ohio. Emmett qualified for the regional championship after placing 9th in his age group at the IL State Competition on March 19th. Good luck Emmett in your regional competition, and congratulations on all your hard work!
NEXT WEEK!
ID Expectations for Middle Schools:
ID Expectations for Middle Schools: D303 has set clear expectations that all middle school students wear IDs on a lanyard at all times. If a student does not have an ID/lanyard, they will need to purchase a new set for $5 in the LRC. The $5 fee will be charged to your child's PushCoin account. This can add up very quickly if a student does not have their ID several times. Please be sure to talk to your student about showing responsibility by wearing their lanyards at all times, and so that they understand the financial implications of having to buy replacement lanyards.
You should also check their PushCoin accounts routinely for added fees now owed. Login to PushCoin and check under the fees tab for charges. Parents do receive a notification every time a charge is entered into their student’s PushCoin account. If you check under the “Wallet” instead of the “Fees” tab, you may not see the new charges.

Dear Parents and Guardians
1) NO outside drinks (Starbucks, Dunkin’, etc..) will be allowed in the AM. Students will be directed to finish them before entering the building.
2) Parents are welcome to drop off lunch but only for their own child - not a group
3) We DO NOT accept or sign for delivered lunches for students - please do not order food deliveries
A Reminder from the School Nurse
State legislation requires that all Illinois children in Sixth Grade will have a dental examination. A licensed dentist must perform the examination, and he or she shall sign the form. Dental offices should have the form available, but it is also available online at www.d303.org under Departments, then Health Services, then “Health Documents and Forms”. Each 6th grade student must present proof of a dental examination by a dentist prior to May 15, 2022. The exam must be dated within 18 months prior to May 15, 2022. If your child has had an exam already, you can ask your dentist to complete the form for the exam.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has established a waiver for children who show undue burden or lack of access to a dentist. Parents or legal guardians who object to the dental examinations on religious grounds shall present to the school a signed, detailed statement of the objection.
The deadline is quickly approaching! Please submit this if you have not already done so. If you have any questions, please contact the WMS nurses at 331-228-3704.
