PBMS Vision
PBMS strives to be a place where students want to come to school, parents want to send their children and staff want to come to work.
Message from the Principal
Wow! What a great opening to the school year. We welcomed over 700 nervous, eager, excited, sleepy, hangry, pre-teens to our beautiful learning environments. Here are highlights from our teachers:
- Students seem ready to work and were good listeners to the rules and expectations. Really great kiddos.
- An 8th grade student took it upon himself to mentor one of our new students and it has been so inspiring! IB student of the week!
- I really enjoyed the energy of my last class!
Tomorrow is our first modified day. It is an A-Day, periods 1-4. Classes are 10 minutes shorter and students will be released at 2:05pm. If you pick up your child on Diamond Street tomorrow or any other day, please be sure to keep the bus loading zone free. We only have a few buses so do not stop or park at the curb from the Haines Street intersection to the 2nd tree past the gate. We will get signs out there soon.
Scheduling: Our counseling team did an amazing job getting all students scheduled in their correct classes. We want to honor all elective requests, even when students changed their mind in the summer. Unfortunately, at this time, most electives are full. Everyone who emailed their counselor about a request is on the waitlist. We will be adding a few classes to the schedule over the next two weeks to help with full classes.
Our priority right now is 6th grade. We are opening a new elective currently only offered to 7th & 8th graders. These classes will have 6th graders only. Here is the course description:
- 6th grade Approaches to Learning Study Skills: This course provides students an opportunity to develop executive functioning skills by learning strategies to meet their project and writing deadlines, study for exams and complete their homework/coursework at school. In turn, this will ensure time scheduled for after school activities, will be free of school work providing a better home/school balance. Extra English support such as reading development and building vocabulary will also be provided during this time.
Similar adjustments will be made for 7th & 8th graders. These changes will most likely take place the third week of school. Thank you for your patience with this process.

Middle School Athletics: A message from Mr. Bauer, Middle School Athletics Liaison
- Both Track and Basketball tryouts (girls and boys) will be at PBMS on Tuesday, Aug. 20th and Thursday, Aug. 22nd.
- Tryouts are at 3:00 to 4:30 on the PBMS Campus.
- Students will have time to suit up / gear up at locker rooms.
- Coaches will meet students at front of PE.
- Have students bring water bottles!
- Please no parents on the fields / courts of PBMS campus for liability purposes.
Stay connected for when coaches and the district announce the final rosters and schedules, usually a week after tryouts, here https://sdusdathletics.com/middle-schools/. Always have your students check the green chalkboards by the PE building for immediate or updated information. If you still have questions, email Mr. Bauer at sbauer@sandi.net.
Speaking of athletics, we added a new elective this year for students who love all kinds of physical activity. Mr. Doom teaches the class and is putting together a weight room for student use. If you have weight training equipment in good condition that you would like to donate, please email Mr. Doom at bdoom@sandi.net with a picture of the items. Hopefully, he can use the items for this class.
Our students in the Intro to Video yearlong course produce 3 newscasts every week in addition to the yearbook. The links to two of them will be linked here every week. The 3rd show, Friday Features, can be accessed through your child's grade level Google Classroom.
Help keep your child connected. Make sure they join their grade level Google Classroom. This is where we post information on student activities, service opportunities, athletics, spirit days and more. Basically, info on schoolwide fun. Ask your child to log into Google Classroom and add the new class code listed below:
- 6th grade: ozs6cel
- 7th grade: uwco5tp
- 8th grade: jxubxcu
