Work Permits
Work permits are required for workers 14 and 15 years old before they can work in any job except agriculture or domestic service work. While employers are responsible to ensure minor workers have the appropriate work permit, parents and guardians are responsible to obtain work permits for minors. Labor laws, including those affecting minors, are enforced by DWD's Equal Rights Division.
A DWD ID is required to purchase a work permit online. Users who have previously created a DWD ID may use it to access the online application. The permit fee of $10 is due at time of purchase. Once complete, the work permit is sent directly to the employer.
Use the links below to guide you through the process.

Metal Mania Competition
On May 18th the Marshall Tech Ed. Department entered 4 students in the "Metal Mania" welding competition at Madison College Fort Atkinson. The students who competed were Rowen Myers, Madalyn Weyh, Mackenzie Cohoon, and Bryan Pertel.
The competition consisted of using scrap metal and making a sculpture that was themed on Wisconsin Farming. Our kids designed and constructed a cow we named "Clarence". To our surprise Clarence placed 3rd in the competition. Madison College awarded our kids prize money which will go to the Tech Ed. department to buy equipment.
I would like to thank Madison College for putting on the competition, feeding us, and allowing our kids the opportunity to compete.
It was a fun day to be a Cardinal!!

Waste Wizards in Need of Items for Summer School
We are in need of a large amount of unwanted items for the Waste Wizard's classes this summer. We need things that look interesting and safe for kids to take apart/demanufacture, such as:
VCRs, DVD players, cell phones, clocks, radios, computers, bicycles, scooters, small kitchen appliances, lawn mowers (push and riding), electric toys, string trimmers, chainsaws, power washers, X Boxes, vacuums, hair dryers, sewing machines, calculators, flashlights, watches, cameras, fans, snowmobiles, mopeds, fishing reels, power tools, leaf blowers, Chromebooks, etc.
We can't use anything that contains Freon, such as refrigerators and dehumidifiers. We also need to avoid TVs and monitors.
The students will be learning how to safely use basic hand tools, material sorting by type, battery identification, disposal rules, manufacturing techniques, industrial safety, and shop etiquette.
Any help you can offer to round up these things would be greatly appreciated.
Tech Ed is collecting unwanted cords and chargers
