How is Your Child Getting Home?
One very important piece of information that we need: How will your child will be getting home each day? Please complete this form: https://forms.gle/wrUQdZVaw8Sa5VL57
We will share this information with our teachers.
Accreditation:
Exciting news from the Virginia Department of Education:
We have once again achieved LEVEL ONE status for our state accreditation. Our accreditation is based on student performance on the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessments (SOLs).
Students in grades 3-5 take these exams.
Our passing rates are:
- 94% for Math
- 92% for Reading
- 86% for Science
Our Attendance Rate also improved. We had an 87.5% attendance rate. 12.5% of our students were considered chronically absent which is a decrease of 5% from the previous year. We are headed in the right direction!
Thank you for partnering with us to make sure all of our students are in school every day and that they are thriving.

Important Information:
Cell Phones and Smart Watches:
We wanted to give everyone a heads up about a new policy that impacts all students.
At the June 25, 2024, school board meeting, the board approved a new policy - 8655 Student Personal Device Use, which restricts student cell phone use in schools and has requirements for each school level.
Elementary school students are not permitted to use personal technology during the school day.
Middle school students must keep their devices silent and not visible, stored in their locker during the school day. Personal devices may be used before or after the school day.
High school students must place personal technology devices in a classroom storage location, not on their person or immediately accessible, and must ensure the devices are silenced during instructional time.
Smartwatches are allowed, but they must not interfere with instruction. Students may be asked to remove their smartwatch for tests unless a specific, documented accommodation exists.
Inappropriate use of social media, images, text messages, or videos shall not be permitted at any time on school property or during a school-sponsored activity; this includes while using LCPS school transportation. Cyberbullying will not be tolerated in any form.
At Steuart Weller we ask that students keep their devices in their backpacks. If a student needs to contact a parent, or if a parent needs to communicate with their child, we utilize office staff to call home or to take messages from parents.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation!
