Conferences on November 25 and 26
School will be closed the week of November 25 for fall break, but that Monday and Tuesday are conference days. If you have not signed up for a conference with your child's teacher, please do so ASAP. Operating hours are 7:30am-7:30pm, and you have the option to attend the conference in person or virtually.
Virtual Middle School Info Session
On Monday, November 25 at 6pm, Ms. Blum and I will host a virtual Middle School Info Session for fifth grade families. In this session we will cover the lottery process and timeline for focus options school, share what each school offers and expects, and ways to support your child's middle school transition. We look forward to seeing you there!
Help Us Maintain School Grounds!
Let’s get our school ready for the fall and winter by raking leaves, picking up trash, and pulling weeds! We are now seeking volunteers to help regularly maintain our school grounds. This is a great way to help on your own schedule because the work can be done any time outside of school hours.
Additionally, there are a number of exciting, high-impact larger projects including assembling and installing our new message board, fixing and painting the ball wall (already enough interest, thank you, volunteers!), optimizing dog access signage and building a shed for maintenance equipment. If you are drawn to this type of work, we would love your help!
Please check out this Grounds Maintenance and Projects sign up to review opportunities and sign up. Questions? Please contact the Grounds Committee at grounds@irvingtonschool.com
November Lunch Servers
If you’ve been thinking of volunteering to serve lunch, now would be a great time because we have openings next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please consider volunteering for one of these slots!
Almost 200 students make their way through the lunch line each day at Irvington, and it makes a big difference to the kitchen staff when parents help serve lunch. Ms. Rie can focus on preparing and restocking so all the kids have healthy choices, and volunteer servers help make the line go a lot faster! It's a great way to observe your child during their school day and to see how the kitchen at Irvington works.
If you've never served lunch before, you'll have to be a PPS-approved volunteer first. Please contact Betsy at bihuigens@gmail.com with any questions.
Next PTA Meeting November 18 <REPEAT>
The next PTA General Meeting is Monday, November 18, 5:30-7:30pm. At this meeting, we’ll vote on the sound panel proposal presented at the last meeting, hear a new proposal to repair the playground ball wall, and have updates from our various committees.
Free dinner and childcare are provided. Dinner (for both children and adults) runs from 5:30-6:00, with the meeting beginning at 6 in the school library. Childcare runs the whole time, so feel free to bring your kiddos. Enter the building through the front doors of the school. Either ring the buzzer or text the phone number taped to the front door to be let in. See you there!
