The Weekly Roar

Hello River Bend Families!

Welcome to the 24-25 school year! This is our school's weekly communication that is sent every Friday throughout the school year. It is always our goal to keep you informed of any operational or instructional updates, important dates, and celebrate the awesomeness that happens at River Bend each day.

What is most visible about our school right now is the construction we are undergoing. Over the course of the next year, we will add four classrooms, an elevator, a storm shelter, and fire sprinkler protection system. There will also be updates made to our playgrounds.

For those new to our school, just a little about me...This will be my 28th year in education. I was a 5th grade teacher for 15 years before becoming a principal. My husband is a gifted teacher in a nearby school district and we have a blended family. Our oldest son, Mitchell (20), is an HVAC technician. Elizabeth (21) is a senior at The University of Arkansas and will graduate with her degree in elementary education next May. Will (19) is also at UArk studying environmental science. Macie (18) begins Maryville University to study nursing. In three weeks, we will be empty nesters. I enjoy baking, boating, photography, Disney World, and just being with family and friends.

I have a strong philosophy of educating the whole child and lead through the lens of courage, collaboration, clear communication, and compassion. I look forward to partnering with all of you and caring for your child as if they were my own.

Shortly after you read this newsletter, you are going to receive another email with two attachments that contain links. (The Smore newsletter platform doesn't always play nicely with PDF's and their hyperlinks.) I have listed the names of those documents below. You will also see a picture of them so you know what the documents look like. Again, they will come in a separate email shortly after you read this:-)

Infinite Campus is the portal that Parkway utilizes for student information, data reports, progress reports, field trip payment, and many other things. If you have any challenges with getting logged on, you can contact the Parkway Help Desk at (314) 415-8181.

Please reach out to our River Bend Nurse, Jen Baker RN, for any medical needs such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, food allergies, mobility limitations, or any other health concern. A doctor's note AND parent authorization note are required for any medication to be given at school, including over the counter medication. Forms are included here and can also be found on our school website. The best way to reach the nurse during the summer is through email. Jbaker4@parkwayschools.net

Friday, September 6th (6:15 PM) - River Bend Night at the Cardinals Game
