What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.

February 28, 2025
As my principal internship comes to an end, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. This experience has been truly transformative, and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside such an amazing community. Your partnership and involvement make this school truly a special place. Thank you for everything!
With gratitude,
-Ms. Reid

We had a wonderful time gathering in community last Fri for Hula for Hopkins, we hope you did too! The amount raised for Kids Helping Hopkins is forthcoming and all students who won opportunities with teachers and staff will be contacted by Fri March 14th. Thank you to event chair, Michalle Wolfe for organizing, Mrs. Krystal Krause for obtaining many donations, Mr. Trey Kaser for DJing, many families for volunteering and Mrs. Amy Feltman, Mrs. Denise Gillispie and Mrs. Cheryl Adam for providing teacher & staff support and involvement.
We celebrated Ms Reid's last day by "Dropping Everything and Dancing!" We went into the hall with our friends and teachers and showed off our best dance moves.
Every student will get to showcase one piece of artwork.
This week we continued to celebrate Black History Month with our community
- Some families attended the "Echoes of Lutherville" event celebrating stories from the black community of Lutherville. We heard firsthand accounts from former students and view photographs from years ago.
- Students participated in a virtual festival celebrating Maryland's Black History and culture with "Blacktastic." This event featured age-appropriate professional teaching artists, enriching performances, trivia, and visuals to historic sites.
Fourth grade students in Ms. Voelker's class used dough to create these cool maps.
Read Across America week is coming the week of March 3rd-7th. There is a trait for each day, a story that supports the trait, and a "spirit" activity for each day. On the attachment below is a QR code which takes you to a YouTube video of the story. Please take the time to share these amazing stories with your children.
The Baltimore Ravens and M&T Bank are inviting nominations for their 12th annual Touchdown for Teachers program, which recognizes local teachers who provide outstanding service for their schools and communities. Beginning today, anyone may nominate an outstanding educator via the online application form through Friday, April 4.
Three finalists – including the eventual grand prize winner – will be selected from a panel of community members and school officials, with the assistance of Baltimore Ravens and M&T Bank staff. The finalists will be chosen based on involvement in their school and/or community, their degree of positive impact and a demonstrated commitment to education.
The grand prize winner will receive the following:
· $5,000 in grant funds, payable to his/her school or district
· A classroom visit by a Ravens’ coach or player, accompanied by mascot Poe
The two remaining finalists will each receive $1,000 in grant funds, payable to their school or district. Every nominated educator will receive a certificate of recognition from the Ravens and M&T Bank.
“Touchdown for Teachers honors the dedication and impact of educators who go above and beyond for their students and communities,” said Augie Chiasera, M&T Bank Executive Vice President. “As the son of a former teacher, I know firsthand the profound influence they have. We’re proud to partner with the Baltimore Ravens to celebrate their hard work and commitment.”
To nominate a teacher for Touchdown for Teachers, please complete the online nomination form at www.baltimoreravens.com/teachers by April 4.

TO KNOW
Technology Session Notes
On Feb 11 Mrs. Jen Hyde (School Social Worker), Mrs. Ilene Kiewe (School Counselor), Mrs. Connee Hart (Assistant Principal), Ms. Aprell Reid (Interim Principal) and several family members gathered for a conversation about Technology, Social Media and Kids Mental Health. The PowerPoint from this discussion can be found here, including resources discussed. Please reach out to the PTA - luthervillelabpta@gmail - with any questions. Thank you to Michelle Turnof-Clark, Family Engagement and Support Sessions Chair and Special Ed Liaison for the PTA.
Next PTA Leadership
In June we will elect our next PTA President, Vice President & Treasurer. We are beginning to examine if there are options for shared positions - i.e. co-President etc, recognizing that families often are thrilled to support their children and become more involved with the school but may not have the time for roles without support. You do not have to be a current PTA member to be elected into these positions (but do need to join after). More information to come but please do reach out to us - luthervillelabpta@gmail.com - if you have any interest or questions about the positions.
