Fairmount Families Week END Report
05.24.2024
Happy Friday, Fairmount Families!
We had a FULL week at Fairmount as we completed our last FULL week for the 2023-2024 school year!
From Field Trips, our Kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic, hosting our student Principal for the Day and holding our last Monthly Matters assembly of the year, our school was buzzing with energy and excitement! While next week will be a short one, it will also be busy and full of exciting moments. I appreciate you taking a moment to review the information about both Field Day and the last day of school prior to the start of next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Lisa Niforatos, Principal

Field Day - Reminders & What to Bring
We are excited about our 2023-2024 Field Day!
In addition to the information provided below, here are a few additional reminders:
1) It is helpful for your child to bring a towel on Field Day. Some classes may choose to eat outside, so this is helpful for them to sit on.
2) If you would like your child to have sunscreen on for the day, please be sure to apply it before they arrive at school. Sunglasses and baseball-type hats are also great items to bring.
3) All students MUST wear gym shoes to safely participate in Field Day.
Field Day
Fairmount's Field Day is this Tuesday, May 28th, during the regular school day. Half of our Fairmount Falcons will participate in Field Day activities during the morning, while the other half will participate in the afternoon. During a mid-day break, students will enjoy a PTA-provided picnic lunch (details below).

If your child will not eat the above lunch, please be sure they pack and bring an alternative lunch. As this is a busy day, we kindly ask that individual/alternative lunches not be dropped off throughout the school day.

Student Celebration Breakfast
On Wednesday, May 29th, we will hold a celebratory extended breakfast celebration for our 6th graders. This will occur during the school day. The PTA will be providing a special breakfast for our 6th graders during this time and 6th-grade room parents are planning additional activities.
Student Assembly
Our 6th-grade students will participate in a student assembly. This is a time for 6th graders to be recognized for their participation in various clubs, activities, etc. during their 6th-grade year at Fairmount. This event is during the school day, and 6th-grade students will participate with their class.
6th Grade Clap-Out
We are looking forward to "clapping-out" our 6th graders as they complete their 6th-grade year and prepare for middle school. The clap-out will take place on Wednesday, May 29th from 11:15-11:30 a.m. at Fairmount. 6th-grade parents/families, or those wishing to view our 6th-grade students exiting Fairmount during the clap-out, should plan to gather on the north side of the playground near Door 4.
Change of Dismissal - Last Day of School
As the last day of school is an 11:30 a.m. dismissal for students, this may result in a change in your child's typical dismissal plan. We ask for your cooperation in letting the office know as soon as possible if your child will be dismissing via an alternative method on this day (e.g. parent/carline pick up instead of bus).
As always, please be sure changes in dismissal are communicated to both Andrea Laama (alaama@dg58.org) and Jillian DeRango (jderango@dg58.org) and/or by calling the Fairmount Office at 630.719.5830. You can also complete the attendance form prior to 9:00 a.m. on this day, which can be found here: Fairmount School Attendance Form

Referral GPS
District 58 strives to create a culture of well-being for students, parents, staff and community. To further support this endeavor, the District has invested in an additional support service through ReferralGPS.
ReferralGPS is a service providing assistance to our community in finding local mental health and substance use-related treatment resources. The service compliments the District’s existing systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS assists families in triage and appointment setting.
School district staff and families may access ReferralGPS in two ways:
Contact Student Services (social workers, psychologists, counselors) to seek out treatment options
Visit this link at https://referralgps.com/find-help/DG58 to search for treatment resources or connect with a Care Navigator anonymously
The platform has the ability to filter by mental health concern, clinician gender/specialty, location, and insurance acceptance. The service is available for all types of private and public insurance options including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, and families that are uninsured or underinsured.
ReferralGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at no cost. All information entered on the ReferralGPS tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
