Message from the Librarian
I hope everyone is well, Thanksgiving Break is almost here and Winter Break is right around the corner, stay strong!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to share how thankful I am to be able to serve the staff and students in State Agency Schools. I can't tell you the number of times I've had a student come to me and say "I never read a book before coming here" and now they are excited to be checking out books and reading!
Our kids come to us with a plethora of issues and oftentimes reading allows them the opportunity to relate to a character when they otherwise may feel isolated and alone. Many of our kids have lots of time on their hands and reading provides them with an escape from reality.
We are growing leaders and readers one book at a time!
Next up, I'm excited to announce that I will be back to checking out at Peace at the end of this month! Library will be Tuesday mornings until noon, starting back on November 29th.
Lastly, Fall RIF is underway!!! I've been able to give some great new titles away to kids at KMI, Boys & Girls Haven, Western Day, St. Joe's, and Brooklawn so far!
The following RIF dates are coming up!
- November 4 - Brook Dupont
- November 15 - Ackerly
- November 17 - Home of the Innocents
- November 18 - Louisville Day
- November 22 - Peace
It may be difficult to get around to all the schools again before Winter Break, but I will definitely be back around for Winter RIF soon!
I hope that each and everyone of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving season!
Sincerely,
Ms. Jennifer
